For the 3rd or 4th time this winter we were without power once again for awhile – this time two hours – I hope it doesn’t go back out again. We are in the middle of an ice storm once again and only 30.5 degrees. The weather says it will warm up to above freezing this afternoon – I hope so. I would so rather have snow then ice – I think this is a stay inside day again for us.
We are lucky to have a fireplace and a generator I know – so many do not and I bet more in this area will be purchasing a generator to be better prepared. There is a cardinal in each of these photos, I see quite a few in the trees perched on the ice covered branches.

I always enjoy your pictures of cardinals, and I confess to being slightly jealous that we don’t have them here in my part of the country. Hope you stay warm.
Snow here … as much of a bother it can be (we’re going to get 5-6″), it’s 1000% better than ice. Hope you’re power stays on.
I love the cardinals, aren’t they beautiful?? Sorry about the ice again, we are getting snow all day and night here and the wind is supposed to blow tomorrow. It’s another stay at home day, I think.
I’m glad to know you are prepared for these Ice Storms that keep coming your way. And love the pictures of the Cardinals.
Our heater went out we had it repaired went on vacation and upon our return our heater again went out …. We bought a newly built house 25 years ago so the heater was 25 years old so rather than get it fixed twice in less than a month we got it replaced the compcny applied what we had already paid toward the new heater. It’s more energy efficient and works great. Our old heater was great no problems or repairs for 25 years. If the new one lasts 25 yeasts my husband will be 96 years old and I’ll be right behind in age so it could be 2 heaters in our life times !!!
We could sure use rain and snow (in our mountains) here in California we are very dry here . Everyone is to cut water usage by 20% that’s not easy for those of us who are older and have cut our usage from other drought years . I’ve taken to doing laundry at the laundry mat to cut our meter usage. Other wise we could not cut 20% water usage as my husband showers and shaves at the gym. I shower at home short showers we don’t water our outside plants with the hose we use “gray” water only ( saved from shower and dish water)
What has happened in the past is we use less water so the water company makes less money so they raise the water rates so they can continue to provide the same level of service
Then we (my husband and myself) continue our water saving ways so now we have to cut back on usage but don’t have a real way to do that so now so use the laundry mat for our cutting back.
We have water and earthquake issues here other places have other issues I do enjoy living in California I like the mild climate and being out side

Our plower blipped twice, but that’s all, we got lucky too. Quit a bit of ice damage at our place though.
