Now To Bind

Patchwork of the Crosses was finished Sunday night – I quilted longer than I normally do at one sitting because I was getting so close to a finish – I just kept going even though I had told myself that I wasn’t going to I found myself finishing up at 10:30 PM – now to make some binding this week and finish it up.  I quilted this one faster than I normally do – it is amazing how quickly it can be done if you steadily quilt about 1 to 2 hours an evening almost all the time – 3 and a half months it took 140 hours – much less than it did to make the top which was closer to 300 hours if I remember right (hand pieced)!!  Wow I surprised myself.  I will spread it out and take more photos after the binding gets on it and it is washed and crinkly looking.  I am linking to Freemotion by the River today.

What the backing looks like – just plain muslin and the stitches show up nice with the variegated thread I used.

And then yesterday the quilting frame was pulled out from the wall and the second Dear Jane quilt “Insanity Revisited”  was put on.  Over all about 2 hours of work with lots of breaks!  One day I really need to clean out below the frame – I keep saying that and it doesn’t get done.  Now can I quilt this one as fast and keep on a roll?  I have one quilt top waiting in line to be quilted – “Granny’s Got Style” I wonder how many more I can get finished before this one is taken off of the frame.  Possibly Diamonds are Forever or Floral Fantasy – maybe both! that would be nice to get those two done.

Ready for work to begin.

But little work on the quilting got done – a beautiful day outside and a lot of reading took place instead.  My beautiful roses – just love these.

Woo hoo on the finish! I can’t wait to see it washed and all crinkly, too. I love the back … who makes variegated hand quilting thread? Your roses are beautiful … mine are knockouts, so no long stems for putting in a vase.

Love your Patchwork of Crosses quilt. I have never been brave enough to tackle hand piecing and hand quilting! Your roses are beautiful as well!

well done on getting Crosses done! Can’t wait for the pictures! So if you hand piece and hand quilt, how do you divide your time between the two? I machine piece, mainly machine quilt, but do embroidery too. I work on the machine at weekends, the evening is time for hand work in front of the TV with the hub (and in the car, when we have company, at other people’s houses…)
