Hexies Gone Wild

I really worked hard on the hexies yesterday – we were finishing up the last of the old mini series on DVD that we have been watching with our daughter every Sunday for the past 6 weeks and it stretched out to 4 hours to finish it.  I finished the row of Diamonds are Forever  I was working on but instead of sewing it to the body of the quilt I got started on the next row – that was just because I have to move furniture to lay it all out and take a photo and then pin the first area in place so I don’t get mixed up.  Today I will start to sew the row to the body and set the partially started row aside.  It’s looking pretty close to finish but there is still a bit of work left on this to do.  The rows are getting a lot shorter and that sure does help.  I am linking up to Design Wall Monday today over at Judy’s.

I hope you all had a great weekend – it was darn hot here but another cool front is to come through and cool things off again – that is ok with me!!  We haven’t had a lot of hot days this summer and we get them we are just not used to it and it sure can hit you – I think you have to get used to heat early in the summer so you can tolerate it for the usual four months that we normally have in a normal hot summer.

Wow, the end is in sight on your Diamonds. And slowly but surely you’re making good progress on your Insanity. You’re more patient than I would be … I’d be so anxious to at least get a few of those tumblers together … but it won’t be long now for you to be working on it. 😉

Wow Karen — I’ll bet you’ll have those hexies done by the time you leave — you’re getting SO close! Your quilting on Insanity is looking great — as always!

It is downright CHILLY here this morning in PA! Mid-60s but cloudy with a breeze / feels more like 55 ! Amazing . Not complaining though! 🙂

Beautiful quilting and those hexies might be done before you go after all! 🙂 With these cool fronts coming through you better take a winter coat and a few quilts!

Karen, Just love what you are working on, and have signed on to read your blog regularly. It’s well done and lots of info there that appeals to me, as are your quilting projects. Thank you for sharing!

Question for you: are you using just a red thread for quilting the top of your DJ? My eyes or maybe the pc, show it looks like a red thread used only, in some photos though, it looks like could be a varigated red, white and blue. Please advise.

Guess I need to get a blog set up, at least for photos of what I’m working on so I can share that too. I have DJ in process also, about 1/2 done with inside top blocks, called Rainbow Sherbet, and a wonderful book on hexies with one table topper ready to quilt, and a strong desire to start one from the book.

I’ve been making quilts by Judy and by Bonnie Hunter.

Also, I have another quilt top to be quilted, a red and white embroidered and patchwork quilt from Amn. Patchwork, 2006, and really want to quilt the quilt this year. It’s floral baskets, and one of my all-time favorites. Started hand quilting it some time ago, and stopped to work on never-ending other projects.
