Yesterday I decided it was time to buckle down and cut all the sheets of fabric that I needed for the plain tumblers for Tumbling Into Insanity. I had been doing just a little at a time but I needed to know for sure how much fabric I had so I knew if I could make it the big queen size I wanted to. I had plenty! I have all cut (I believe) that I need and I have just about a whole 3 yards left on the bolt – that surprised me because I thought I started with 5 yards wrapped around that cardboard bolt but I got to thinking about it and I think it was probably 10 yards instead as I’m pretty sure if I have figured my numbers right it has taken about 6 yards to do the plain color tumblers – when you think of layout and although there is little waste 5 to 6 yards is probably right. Here is my stack of 8.5 x 11 inch fabric stacked up ready for pressing onto freezer paper and printing.
I got about 20 sheets printed yesterday and cut apart. I use about 4 pieces of freeze paper at a time and reuse and reuse until the fabric doesn’t stick anymore – 20 sheets of fabric later and those 4 pieces are still good to go for some more printing.
1,000 each of plain and print tumblers – only 458 each left to do! Oops just realized I didn’t take a photo after I had cut another 100 of the plain – make that 1,100 plain already cut! Almost done – it only takes hours of prep when you are making a big queen size and want them all cut before you start – otherwise of course you could do these a little at a time.
Flowers from the front area by the driveway. We are reaching the time of summer when it starts to really heat up and dry up – I wonder for this year – we are heading into a week of mid to high 90’s – yuck!! the flowers will start to dry up soon. But they have been looking pretty longer than normal so that is great.
This is becoming very over grown and this fall I will need to get busy as soon as we get home from our trip and start digging and dividing bulbs and plants. And to think I never planted these orange flowers – a bulb washed in and multiplied! this will be the second time I need to divide them and spread them out around the yard.
I don’t know the name of this lily but it sure is pretty – I only have a couple bulbs of this one but got about 5 or 6 flowers this year from it.

We have at least 3 of those day lilies. I don’t know what variety they are, either … the builder had the landscaping put in by the time we bought the house. I’m planning a landscaping expansion and certainly intend to include a few more day lilies. I love cone flowers … I need to include them in that landscaping expansion, too! 😉
So many tumblers…boggles the mind 🙂 Your flowers are gorgeous right now! 🙂
Love your lilies. From how tall they are and the number of blooms I would guess they are oriental lilies of some type. I have a bright yellow one that does so well. I agree our spring and early summer here in Arkansas has just been wonderful. I have white cones flowers that really do well thru the whole summer just added a variety that has purple and orange hues and reminds me of a batik fabric so I had to add them to the garden. Wow you sure have been busy printing and cutting.
You will have those remaining tumblers printed and cut out in no time. There’s something really appealing about having everything for a project printed, cut out and ready to stitch.
beautiful flowers, looking forward to seeing your tumbler quilt

Karen, if the tall lilies have little black specks on their petals, they are tiger lilies. I have those and they spread quickly from bulblets that form along the stem. I also have a pretty yellow tiger lily but it isn’t as strong as the orange ones. I lost most of my coneflowers when the deer ate them; some survived and have bloomed this year.
Loving your inklingo project… do you print in black or another color there? Thanks! Kathi
That is an amazing number of pieces to prep… and stitch!
Thanks for linking up!
