Yesterday Mike and I ran to Little Rock for my doctor appointment and some shopping. We did a lot of sitting and waiting at the clinic – every department seemed to be busy except the bone density people – that went fast – the doctor was slow and I don’t usually have to wait much on him – the lab was pokey and busy! Good news was that my bone density has improved after 10+ years of early osteoporosis (due to medication I am on) – the last two years of Reclast yearly IV injects are helping – so that was very good news. We didn’t really do all that much shopping – looked for cabinet inserts for organizing but didn’t come home with any we decided we liked the ones we saw at home at our local Lowes better than the others! I didn’t spend much time quilting until evening when I parked myself at the quilting frame and watched some tv while quilting.
I never did get around to answering comments from you all as I hate to do that on a little bitty phone and we were running around and I have to watch where I’m walking LOL. But thanks for all the comments you leave. I know I answered a few here and there.
On Tuesday night though I got some work done on Diamonds are Forever and this is going on forever it seems – it will be two years in February since I started work on this massive quilt full of one inch hexagons. Down to the final two borders but it will still take awhile to finish. Here it is folded in half so I didn’t have to move any furniture – I just wasn’t feeling like pushing and pulling that heavy coffee table out of the way – the area I worked on was the color prints at the top – I sure thought I got more accomplished while I was watching tv then I did. Of course in this photo I now notice one color piece on the very right side that needs to be moved over one segment when I put it in I didn’t think it quite felt right but couldn’t see any other way to do it – – oh well maybe I will get it fixed today so I don’t forget it. It doesn’t quite curve as it should. That is what happens when you make up a pattern as you go!
Yesterday while we were gone the mail lady delivered my ruler and pattern – now maybe I can make what should be an easy, easy quilt work out! Hope to get started soon. My colors are bright primary colors so I need to come up with a name for it.
Warm weather is back in our area and rain in the forecast too of course – oh well, hope the storms won’t be bad like you all in the north are getting.

That pattern is neat…look once you see triangles / next look the windmill thing-ies
Karen…I am so glad that you mentioned that you take Reclast. I have severe osteoporosis, and the doctors have been badgering me to take something before my hip or spine fractures — BUT I have been too scared to after reading the patient reviews on line. Have you had any bad side effects? Thank you.
To Sandy and any others curious as to the question she asked: my doctor told me that the side effects you hear about in the advertisements affected about 1% of the people who take these type of drugs. I have not had any side effects other than briefly feeling like I might be coming down with the flu after the treatment this last only a couple days. I took Fosamax for numerous years before switching to Reclast IV as I had horrible heart burn from the Fosamax – please do not suggest that I depend only on diet and exercise and herbal remedies I am on medication which caused Osteoporosis but I have to take the medication for my auto immune diseases. What works for some of us doesn’t always work for others – you all have to make up your own mind and consult your doctor and make sure your insurance company will pay for the IV treatment – it is very expensive otherwise.
So happy your doctors appointments and all went well… I hate the waiting too!
Glad you liked local best… if there are any issues once you get them they will be easier to exchange too! You are making great progress amidst your busyness. Already a new pattern to start for you too! I love your multitasking abilities Karen! Have a blessed week! Kathi
