Within hours of Jessica and family leaving on Saturday around noon I found out that our hot water heater was leaking! We were lucky it didn’t go out while they were here. Saturday we ran into Lowe’s to get a new one, the old one was old, old, old and couldn’t be fixed. LOL we got a skinnier model as you can tell by the floor and it slides back into that spot a little more than the old one did! I took this photo before Mike was totally done with installation and now I am wondering what will I do with the floor – or will I do anything with the floor? It is in a closet not out in the open. Just so glad it didn’t go caput while we had a house full. I really should clean the floor in there. I do not think I have any of that old linoleum flooring stored away anymore, I remember getting it but it was a long time ago.
Saturday I really didn’t spend much time sewing – I did press 20 fat quarters for the Kansas Twister to be cut into strips and pieces – I did get the ironing done.
These Dear Jane – Insanity Revisited blocks are from Monday – I never got around to posting them. I have 3 more in this row to quilt and then the border triangles before rolling it down again. I am linking to Kathy’s Quilts Slow Stitch Sunday.
Connecting Threads was having a sale on batting last week and when I ordered what I needed I also got a package of the flower pins to write the numbers on and see how it works for keeping my tumblers in order – I wrote with a fine point sharpie and let them dry before putting them away – I decided to just to up to 10 for now and then do more when and if I need them.
I was outside for a bit on Saturday – it was close to 70 degrees but very breezy – won’t last long – cold front coming into the state tonight and Monday will barely be 40 degrees. So seeing as it was nice I moved some of the firewood from the stacks to the workshop porch closer to the house – not hard work when you have a riding lawnmower and a wagon that hooks to the back of it. When I got done moving some I got the tarps out and covered the wood piles so they will stay dry – we will move it as we need it up to the porch of the house and the workshop. I really didn’t do much other than that! I made turkey soup and cornbread for supper – it was good but I ate too much – must stop that and get back to exercise.
Craftsy Black Friday Sale!
Friday Through Monday, December 1st,

Your dear Jane blocks are looking great. Hmm I have some of those flat head flower pins. I didn’t know you could write on them. Now I can put them to good use.
Love seeing your progress on your DJ.
Great progress on dear jane! How many more blocks to go?
Dear Jane is coming along beautifully. Very good that the tank lasted through the family visit.
Two soups on the stove this morning ( vegetable and turkey ) and almost all of the Xmas decorations done / ready to hit the couch and quilt soon!
And there is a weather break here too! 55 degrees today; thank you for sending it my way!
I use that blue painter tape instead of pins for keeping up with rows of blocks. It stands out more for me then just another pin.
So happy you guys found the hot water leak fast and were able to replace it. Like your new skinnier model too! Maybe new linolium for that closet?? Or rest on it a while and maybe your hubby will have a solution if it won’t clean up. Love your dear jane progress and your fat quarter ironing sounds like it was riveting but worth the effort to make your twister blocks with 🙂 Enjoy your Sunday my bloggy friend! Kathi
You are really moving along on DJ. Looks like two more block rows and a border. Slow and steady!
Looks like you had a tray under your hot water heater. Mi don’t and need to keep an eye on it. In fact I need to check the closet floors to make sure nothing would be damaged.
Your DJ blocks are lovely!!
Hi Karen! You’re lucky having your husband to fix things and not having to spend more money in handwork. Perhaps putting adhesive linoleum would be an easier option and a quick fix. Here in Valencia we’re having a veery rainy weekend, rain, rain and more rain. Valencia is a very humid city so the combination of humid weather and rain feels unpleasannnnt. Cold weather hasn’t come yet and tomorrow is 1st Dec!!. Love
We had the same problem with our water heater a few months ago. Such a pain. As usual your stitching is lovely.
Lucky for you that your hubby is handy so replacing the water heater wasn’t too expensive.
I start walking again tomorrow morning … it’ll be cold, but I need to get back to walking.
I’d forgotten that I had planned to order some of those flat head pins to number. I’ll do that as soon as I’m done here.
Every time I hear a hot water tank story I am glad we opted for tankless hot water heater 3 years ago. It hangs outside and I got a pantry where the old tank was. You will have a new house soon. It looks lovely. You quilts make me envious!!!

So glad the heater didn’t leak on your new floors!
I also ordered batting from Connecting Threads, and of course a few other pieces of fabric! Now they come out with an extended Black Friday sale ~ can’t order more 🙁
So love the thread color on the DJ!!! A couple of years back we replaced our water heater with an electric one from the power coop. It’s huge!!! but very efficient for us! I ordered a batting supply at that sale, too. You will really like the flower head pins (they are the only ones I use as they penetrate batiks so smoothly!). The cold is here and the winds are due to begin any time. Ugh! Tomorrow 30F forecast. The roller coaster continues………………..
A great idea for using those pins! Love to see your red and white blocks being quilted!
