That’s right I kept my sister’s quilt nice and easy – I changed from what I had planned on doing with the white area and stuck with something simpler – I only had a little unpicking to do. There isn’t as much quilting in this as I would have done if I hand quilted but there was going to be too much pulling and tugging and whatever to get the quilt turned this way and that!
On to the binding. Hopefully I will get to that today. On the back you can see the quilting better than on the front I think – nothing fancy as I said but enough to hold it all together! I am linking to A Quilting Readers Garden today and Confessions of a Fabric Addict and of course to Amanda Jean’s Crazy Mom Quilts.
And I got my little star block done too – these little things I am doing by hand – I have to do something by hand to unwind from the machine work! and I got started on #5 but didn’t get a photo.
A new visitor to the feeding area – a turtle dove – I usually see several pairs around in the spring/summer but rarely in the winter – only one – I wonder where the mate was.
And of course a squirrel stopped by as well – they are always around.
And the finches – the gold finch actually looked a bit more “gold” than usual in the winter – a sign of spring coming?
The quilt backing for Ciera’s quilt came yesterday so as soon as I get the binding done on my sister’s quilt I will get busy on Ciera’s quilt. Things are moving along and on my list of 12 quilts to finish/work on for 2015 I will be able to cross some things off!! 4 out of 12 now done, and it will be two more crossed off soon.

It may be simple but diagonal lines always make a cool effect on the back.
Love your bird pics; funny was just looking up some info on birds for my mum this am, who’d taken pics of a humongous flock with her phone (love it, 78 and snaps pics and sends them) and read some great info on backyard feeders. Synchronicity! Again! Is the first quilt Jacob’s Ladder? Love the HST and squares. Hand-quilting, love it, wish I’d do more of it…
Love your beautiful lavender/purply star blocks!
I agree with Vicki sometimes simple lines are a perfect finish. I do agree with you that machine stitching is hard work and not very relaxing, anyways not for me!
There’s nothing wrong with simple quilting! Loving those star blocks!
In spite of what I end up doing, I really do like the simpler stitching……maybe there will be more???? (machine stitching)
Love that you finished the quilt for your sister… and I love how it turned out! I think she will use it and adore it! Our back yard is also full of birds and squirrels .. I just don’t have a place to photo them like you do !! lol Kathi
Because I only own a domestic machine, it is nice to see the results of your quilting. The back is as lovely as the front. Beautiful quilting, sometimes less is best.
He IS very gold.
It’s been very cold here for what seems to be ages but the forecast says we are going UP to 40 degrees today. That’s a welcome break !
Love these pretty purple colors : )
I love those star blocks. I haven’t done that pattern in a long time – this might be the year!
