Such a busy day yesterday was – I spent some time at the machine with the machine quilting on my sister’s quilt, Stairs through the Stars. It is coming along but I think it will take another week still to get the quilting done as I want. I ran into a little problem with one of the bobbins – had never had this happen before – I had order 5 extra bobbins for my Juki sometime back and hadn’t used them – I think one of them was almost a very tiny micro little bit too big! I put it in and it was stuck and didn’t want to come out of the bobbin case – the thread wouldn’t even pull through it was so tight – I finally managed to get it out and I will toss it-the others work just fine. I have never had a bobbin do that – I actually put it back in a second time thinking there was nothing wrong with it and it happened again and again took forever to get it out of the case.
I find it very hard to get a photo of what I am doing on it. I will try again when I am done. This one is a little better.
The sewing table is a complete mess again, I need to put things away and clean up I need the table to work on the tumblers and will get the janome or the featherweight out to continue work on it and leave the juki set up for the quilting for now.
I have to push all this aside for our evening meal, most of it just goes on the ironing board which I have set up underneath the quilt to help hold the weight up and then I put the machine down at the far end of the table while we eat-it will stay like this until I am done – the machine is just too heavy to keep moving. I had a marathon of NCIS going on yesterday during the day when I was quilting – I don’t know why– I was taking a break every 30 minutes and I wasn’t even watching the show then – I was doing laundry and whatever, moving around and doing things to move my shoulders and neck. I have seen all of the shows I do believe and remember them when they start and know the plot lines.
Does anyone remember the Lemoyne Stars that I cut out back in July – I have barely touched them!! I have 3 or 4 complete and last night I got one out to stitch – hand stitching with Inklingo – this will be a small wall hanging one day.
I hope to get back to work on the hexies any day now – not sure when.
Thanks all for the wonderful comments yesterday – and thank you to Michelle Hill the designer of Floral Fantasy for stopping by and leaving a lovely note.

I totally forgot that there was an NCIS marathon yesterday. 🙁 It’s ok as I didn’t spend as long quilting as I normally would … I was way behind on my paperwork and finally bit the bullet to get that done.
I think your machine quilting is looking good. Isn’t that odd about the bobbin? Was it one sold by the manufacturer or a generic one that was supposed to fit your machine?
Hmmm….yesterday I was using a newly purchased bobbin for my Juki and I had to loosen the screw more than I thought I would (new brand of thread)…will use old bobbin with new thread today….after I finish picking out some quilting.
Haha — your sewing table looks like mine — isn’t it funny how they go through their phases of being a complete mess and then they’re clean again? Looks like you’re making great progress on your quilting!
Why is it we do the exact thing that diidn’t work? LOL. I do the same thing, with the same results! LOL.
DiNozzo, McGee and I watched a lot of NCIS yesterday too! But, of course we HAD to!
So glad you have a nice area for your sewing machine for machine quilting… you can see outside.. also glad taking breaks wasn’t hard for you… I get all caught up in what I am doing and sometimes forget to come up for air! lol How nice that the designer of your quilt came and left you a comment.. going to check out that now! Awesome Karen 🙂 Kathi
It’s a good thing your husband put on that room addition! LOL Your machine quilting looks great!
Karen, I HAVE had that very thing happen to me….not once but 2 times! They were all from the mfr (the ones I got with the machine and another 12 from an authorized dealer). I have, also, gotten an odd sized one for my Sweet 16 (also, from an authorized dealer). Quality Control is “out the window” for many items we purchase.
Another thought….it appears that your chair is low and the machine is too high causing you to lift your shoulders while stitching. Sitting higher (and placing something under the power pedal so the backs of your legs don’t hang off the edge of your chair causing a dangerous situation of circulation being pinched and bruised nerves…sciatic nerve). I have modified my set-up to conform to these modifications and my shoulders don’t get sore at all.
Love your choice in quilting motif/straight lines….perfect.
Wow… what eye candy you have there!
