I got Kansas Twister washed and dried, label is on and I decided my grandson Utah was getting this quilt. I had one finished for my granddaughter Ciera a week ago or so ago that I shared – Nancy’s Stars and I thought he needed one too and it was kismet that I had finished another one before I leave to go visit on Thursday. I will put them both in a box though and mail them this week as I don’t think I can stick two quilts in my suitcase and fit in all my stuff! I’m only bringing one suitcase and my large laptop bag for a carry on.
Here is Kansas Twister finished – it shrunk about 5 inches in width and almost 6 in length – I was surprised at the shrinkage – it seems that Hobbs Heirloom Cotton shrinks more than Quilters Dream – but I do like it – it feels just a little heavier and it has more depth to the quilting.
Here you can see the crinkliness of it.
I finished the 3rd row of the white hexies on Diamonds are Forever – one more row and the top is done!! I imagine I will be working on this for Slow Stitching Sunday – linking to Kathy’s.
Half of the first border for Granny’s Got Style is done. I am so glad I stuck with an inch in between the zigzags!
Each corner will end up a little different – the bouquet of flower’s? if you can call them flowers LOL are located slightly differently so the corner zigzag’s will be in whatever way I put them and look happy! In other words I don’t care if they are not the same!
I have had several ask what kind of embroidery thread I am using for the Winter Wonderland embroidery – it is Perle Cotton #8 and I got it from Bird Brain Designs I believe but you can find it at lots of places.

KT turned out great and it’s a perfect “guy” quilt. Love how Granny is starting out too! Have a great trip!
A finish! How wonderful! Love that feeling. Kansas Twister turned out very nice and your grandson will love it. I like the border design you are quilting on your Granny quilt. I’ll have to remember this and use it on one of my sometime (if that is ok). Those circles add a special splash to the border.
Have any flower bulbs popped up yet since you have started melting?
Your work is coming along very nicely. I love your hand quilting.
Wow! What fun you’ll have delivering your two quilts. I hope you marked the box, “Do Not Open” so you can be there…..or do you think you’ll beat the postman? Your work is amazing and lovely, as always.
Congratulations on finishing Kansas Twister. It is just goooorrrgeous!! The flowers in the corners will be just perfect any which way you want to sew them. After all, ain’t it the way they grow in nature? Love your quilting design on that quilt. Enjoy!
Wow! You have been busy! Your grandson is sure to love his quilt! Happy stitching to you!
I love the hobbs batting better than Quilter’s Dream. Kansas Twister turned out great. I am sure it will be a hit with your grandson!
I love the zig zag with the dots!
I just LOVE your finished Twister … there’s nothing quite like a quilt fresh out of the washer and dryer, so crinkly and cuddly. Wow, that was a fair amount of shrinkage, wasn’t it? Of course, it’s the shrinkage that creates the crinkliness, so I guess we can’t complain. 😉
I assume you’re going to get some warmer weather today? We had our sliding glass door open for a little bit yesterday afternoon … it was wonderful to hear the birds chirping and to breathe in fresh air!
Your Kansas Twister quilt is gorgeous, and your grandson will love it!
I must remember that pattern. I love the way yours turned out.
So happy both your grandkids will be getting a quilt now! What a lovely idea 🙂 I love how fun your Twister turned out… great choice on the batting… I know it shrunk but it looks fantabulous!! So close on your Diamonds top too 🙂 And your Granny quilt is totally fun looking so far 🙂 Kathi
Lucky grandkids ! 🙂 you have quite alot done on Granny already! 🙂
So awesome… congrats on the finish! Love the scrappy binding and the pointy edges!
Good to know about the shrinkage of that batting. It looks good on your quilt. I will have to keep that in mind when I do my Grandmother’s flower garden, I love the antique wrinkled look!! Your quilting looks great too…who cares if the corners aren’t the same…it makes it original!!!
That batting does shrink quite a bit, but I love the look! Great job on your finishes! Wonderful to be able to gift both at the same time.:)
que satisfacción !!
entregar los dos edredones a tus nietos
los dos son preciosos
felicidades
buena semana
They both are wonderful! I am just catching up from the weekend of fun in New Orleans!
I am surprised at the amount of shrinkage. Would you ever wash your batting first?
I love how it turned out! Love the edges and the scrappy binding…perfect. Enjoy your trip!

I must admire your ability to stick with a project! I started a Lucy Boston Cross of the Patchwork and did really well until I got to the white background pieces. Boring! I really need to get back to working on it. I love, love the other 2 quilts! good job!
Kansas Twister looks great! Your grandson will love it. I also really like the dots and the zigzags on Granny’s Got Style.
