Normally when I have a lot of outside work to do in the spring I still get a lot of stitching done because I can not go hours on end working outside – my arms get too tired and I run out of energy. I try to work for about 45 minutes to an hour – take a break and pick up the needle and fabric for a little bit then back outside and so in continues all day and that is what happened yesterday.
I have a big tree close to the house that every fall the leaves just fall down into the decorative grasses and near by flower bed and make a mess. It is such a chore to clean it out that I never get done with it. I always end up in the spring trying to clean out these areas.
this is the main area that I always need to practically get in on my hands and knees and pull dead leaves out – I have a leave blower but it just doesn’t get them out right. The tree in this photo below is one we are planning on having taken out so maybe the leaf problem won’t be so big next year?
All the areas close up to the tree will grow in quickly once all the dead stuff is out – it always does.
what a mess!
Here is a close up of all that new decorative grass coming up (Monkey Grass)
I have a little bit left to sew on the ring of stars around the rosette – almost finished it yesterday but just couldn’t continue – my hand was aching from it (and the earlier work with the rake) – so my review of EPP is that for me – Forget about it!! I gave it a try I find it very awkward, working with stiff papers is not for me – I will be hand piecing the rest of La Passacaglia by hand the way I normally do with a running stitch and soft flexible fabric!
I got five rows of Tumbling Into Insanity machine stitched yesterday and seeing as it is supposed to rain today I will try to finish up the next 5 rows and get it attached to the quilt top.
I was asked for a close up of the buds on Love Entwined – the photo the previous day wasn’t a close up of the work I had just finished. The embroidery was requested to see.
And one wanted to know how many stitches to stitch for each bud – I’m not counting them LOL if you want to here is the back – not always the neatest work from the back!
This much on Granny was done Tuesday night
I did get the cables drawn out for the next block and that is the area I was working on last night.
Hope these strong storms expected yesterday and today for the middle part of the states have not done damage to your area – I think from what the weather guy said last night that although Arkansas is included in the area that it is the area to the north of us in Missouri and maybe Indiana(?) that will be getting the worse of it – hope you all luck out ok. I guess we might get wind or/and hail – hope it will just be a usual thunderstorm and nothing bad.

EPP isn’t for everyone. If it is easier for you to do your project by hand, then go for it. The police aren’t going to show up. They’re forecasting the storms for Indiana but it depends on how much sunshine we get. So for it is overcast, dreary and foggy. If it stays, we won’t get the storms in our area.
Looks like our neck of the woods is in that area for those severe storms, too. Hopefully they won’t be as bad as the meteorologists are reporting. There was hail – gigantic hail – just to the south of us yesterday.
Thanks for sharing the close-ups on your LE … such tiny little circles. It’s going to look great when you’re done.
I agree about EPP. Way to hard on the hands. Hand piecing doesn’t bother my hands but EPP does. I have a large tree also and this year we have crabgrass in places that we have never had it. I have one more section to do today before the storm hits! It must be so much fun stitching on granny’s got style!
Ahh, sweet spring! Your yard will be beautiful, all cleaned up from winter’s wrath, and turning green again. Love your work. You always accomplish so much.
So YOU are responsible for these storms LOL! It’s been pouring today — I love it. Hopefully things will start to green up soon around here. Yards are a lot of work, aren’t they? All that green stuff in your yard looks beautiful!!!
Like you, I have a bit of clean up in the yard as well. I use a little stool in the areas needing a lot of leaves pulled out… Sitting is a lot easier on my back, so I can work a bit longer between breaks.
On your La Passacaglia stitching, I bet you find it will go more quickly just using regular hand piecing rather than EPP… Thanks for the close up shots of the tiny appliqué…beautiful work! Love seeing all the progress on your projects…such an inspiration!
Hope the bad weather misses you….
Glad you are not going to get the worst of the storms! I have the same problem with leaves. Garbage cans full of them ( from my neighbor ) in the fall and then more in the spring ! 🙂
How pretty your closeup shot is !
Love your tiny circles! EPP isn’t for me either ~ too much preparation.
