Ideas run rampant through my head when I look at fabric bundles. And while I did get a little more machine quilting done on the Tumblers and some more work on the Stars I thought it was time to do a post about something else or you all well get very tired of me.
I showed two fabric bundles in the last couple of weeks that I intend to use on upcoming projects and was asked by several if I could fan them out so you can see them better – happy to obliged.
This is the bundle that I have had for several years now starring at me – it is called Russian Traditions and I purchased it from Craftsy some time ago – like I say about 2 years ago – on a very good sale of course. (fat quarters and two panels off to the side)
This is the pattern I am going to use for that bundle
And then when I was looking through a book for another pattern to use for another bundle look where the page opened to that I had previously marked – yes same pattern different name and different colors and that book is 10 years older LOL hmm – I don’t think I can credit Carrie Nelson for this pattern !
And this is the Collection for the Cause bundle that I got more recently – fat eighth’s. Not quite the fabric that I normally get but then the bundle above isn’t either – maybe that is why I hadn’t used it yet?
And here are some patterns that I have been looking at for some time now – like 10 years – (same book) that I had the intention of making and never have – some of these might go well with the fabric above and white back ground or cream.
or this one.
This one is in the Di Ford book – Primarily Quilts.
All of these quilt patterns are ones I am considering – but I do need to finish Winter Wonderland of course too – I have not forgotten it – just a break from it while I finish the machine quilting – then get my binding on the Tumblers and clean off my cutting table – then maybe I can get back to it. I am lining this embroidery to Super Mom-No Cape today for her embroidery links.
and the fabric put aside for it –
So I guess I better get busy this week and finish the machine quilting on the Tumblers so I will have room to work on something else – 10 lines down out of 140 – I only did 10 yesterday – I better do a lot more today!

I love that Pepper Quilt pattern. My vote is for that one, 2nd vote is the flying geese pattern from Di Fords book. Tumblers is looking great. Blessings, Gretchen
I, too, love the Pepper Quilt! The border is one you could have designed!
I recognized Crossroads to Jericho and then the Pepper Quilt. I have that book. I only have two big books of scrap quilts and that is one of them! Ok so I think that you should make the Pepper Quilt. I want to every time I look at it but know that I’d probably mutilate the poor thing ….I could just live vicariously through you if you make it. Perfect solution, lol! 🙂
I love Dresden Plate variations, and the latest Quilters Newsletter has several. I also came across another variation in a book on my shelves lately. I’m thinking of doing that when/if I ever get out from under all my UFOs. I love your star quilt – of course – it’s got purple in it!
What fabulous patterns you’re considering for the CFAC fabrics. I’m trying to decide which one I would choose, if it were up to me … such a hard decision as they’re all spectacular. And for the record, I never get tired of seeing your progress on your quilts! 😉
I don’t think you have to worry about anyone ever getting tired of seeing any of your quilts in progress! Your projects are so inspiring, and I look forward to seeing your blog post every day!
Love how the zig zag quilting looks on the Tumblers quilt…..even on the back!!
I have a book with the Pepper Quilt in it! I love feathered stars, but I have never tried to make them….that is something on my “to do one day” list, but it isn’t near the top of the list at the moment.
Crossroads to Jericho is a cool looking pattern….doesn’t look too complicated (it appears to be a nine patch with a triangle at each corner??) ….I think your fabrics would look great for that pattern.
We are in another hot, humid, temps in the mid to upper 90’s weather pattern again in Virginia, so after a few errands, I will be inside most of the day doing some hand piecing, cold lemonade at my side!
I think the quilting gets easier as you add more lines because the bulk goes away. 10 is better than none! Like you say any progress is good progress. It all adds up!
I love seeing the patterns you are considering. That bundle is right up my alley. The Russian designs are interesting, though, and it would be fun to work with them. I have a suspicion, the pattern goes back further than ten years, too. =) It’s a natural with a nine-patch in the middle and square-in-a-square. Someone did that a long time ago, under some name, I’m sure!
Oh I can’t wait to see which quilt that you decide to make. Love both bundles of fabric too. You are a very productive quilter.

Some fabulous ideas for using up those lovely fabrics! Looking forward to seeing your Winter Wonderland quilt finished too! 🙂 x
I love the Russian Traditions collection. I think it will look great in the pattern you have chosen. Actually, I really like all those quilts that you have chosen.
I love all your fabrics you have pictured! Yummy! I love the Pepper Quilt too, but I like all the pictures you showed. Hugs,
Vow, so many fabrics. All r lovely. The quilt patterns are really really beautiful.
oh Karen, I love chatting about upcoming projects from fabric I have been saving.. or picking out a quilt to use for fabrics… I love your choices and look forward to seeing your embroidered blocks get a border too when you feel ready for that! lol Loving the tumbling blocks quilting!! Kathi
That Spiral Feathered Star is the center block in Di Ford’s Morrell Quilt. It is also one that Sue Garman has called Twirly Balls. I shudder at the thought of doing either technique on my Morrell.
I really like the Peppered Quilt also. I love the feathered star pattern and those applique borders make it rock.
