We were out of town yesterday. We drove to North West Arkansas to visit with family for a going away party. One of my many nieces who is a teacher – the one who taught in a remote Alaskan village several years ago– well be on her way in a couple weeks to Kuwait in the Middle East where she will be teaching at a private school for children of American’s and Europeans and some locals. She said it is mostly children of oil workers that attend this school and also children of business people in the area. She is a grade school teacher. We all wish her the best of luck and hope no trouble will be there. She will be in a very modern city.
We were gone pretty much all day and didn’t get home until 11 so there was no sewing. We stopped at the art museum Crystal Bridges before going to my sisters house as Melanie had not seen it yet. It is a very pretty museum, I have been there a lot. Here are a couple photos from that and from the family – tomorrow – back to quilting.
Melanie with Rosie the Riveter
This painting has thousands of individual birds painted in it – when you first look you don’t really see them all – when you look closely you see the accuracy of the birds and the animals.
The photo doesn’t do justice.
Melanie and my sister Mary getting caught up. We had not seen everyone since Mom’s funeral last October –
Donna my sister in law and their grand daughter my great niece Addie
It is hard to get photos when everyone is milling about going to the table for the food – most of these in this one are family but some are not.
Back to sewing tomorrow.

Best wishes to your niece!
It’s nice to be able to take time for family and reconnect.
That painting with the birds is amazing!
Sounds like a wonderful time with your family 🙂
Looks like you had a wonderful time! Love the art! Hope your niece has a safe trip and enjoys herself.

It was nice for you all to be able to get together. I have “family” (former brother-in-law and a nephew) who live in NW Arkansas so I’ve heard of the Crystal Bridges. We’ve talked about visiting SW Missouri and then driving down to visit them and that area of Arkansas.
So happy to know you took a day off your regular routine and enjoyed family… thanks for sharing the photos too! Kathi
Sounds like a great day! I’ve never been to Crystal Bridges and want to go. I wanted to go when they had the Norman Rockwell exhibit, but never made it. Even with our son in college in Fayetteville now we have never made it. I think that will be a good road trip for me and the hubby this fall.
