Winter Wonderland Finished

Sunday was a busy quilting day for me because it was quite hot once again – I almost think it was our hottest day of summer getting up to 95 for a short while.  I finished Winter Wonderland!  I decided against adding another row making it big enough for a pillow tuck – but it is long enough that it can be pulled up the bed and folded at the top centering the embroidery more.  It finished at 98 x 103 inches.  I am linking this embroidery finish to Super Mom – No Cape and I’m also linking to the Patchwork Times today.

One row can be folded back.  The embroidery was started back in February when the designs were traced to the fabric so I did move quickly on it.  Now it is in the basket of “too be quilted” tops.  Only two tops in that basket right now

When quilting on Floral Fantasy Saturday night I noticed when glancing up at the computer screen for Netflix a little circle that is glue basted in placed but no stitches!!  LOL, I’m not sure how I missed that.  When it gets closer to the work area I will stitch it down, I put the thread needed in the notions tray so I won’t forget it.

This area was stitched Saturday night.

An overview – in the center of the quilt – the light blue vase with what looks like an orange tree – that is the center block – the half way mark.

018

More on the Postage Stamp.  I will probably have this be my machine work now putting squares into rows and watching it grow.  I am not sure what size it will be, it barely seems like anything is missing out of that scrap box.

016

My list of 2015 finishes – nice and neat typed up on the computer to track easily for my end of the year post on finishes.  I always like to do a post on what I accomplished for my reference.

Caught a photo of one of the many hummingbirds zipping on by.

Love your finished winter wonderland top… how fun to call that one done so quickly and with so much rearranging once that embroidery was done! Using it as a bed quilt when quilted I think you will be happy that you stabilized all your embroidery too!
Your progress on Floral Fantasy seems to be zooming on the frame… maybe Netflix is helping?? lol Watched a season of a show I used to watch a while back this morning while I have been stitching … I haven’t watched Netflix in ages either! Nice to get back to kids in school/holiday weekend with a sleepover for her/ quiet time for me when I am awake and wanting to stitch 🙂
Thanks for sharing your hummingbird shot too! Lovely work on your postage stamp top… I have heard many say that those scrap using quilts don’t seem to make a dent in their scraps too! lol
I am not keeping a list this year of accomplishments.. January and February had lots of finishes for me as I recall… but the wholecloth slowed that down… yet is sooo enjoyable I find myself missing it! When I finish this memory quilt it will get a bit of time from me I do believe.
Hoping to win a quilt top on eBay today from a reputable place.. my dd picked it out and I will handquilt it done if I do win it… next spring! lol Hope your today is cooler friend!

It got up to 97 here yesterday. It’s supposed to be hot again today and tomorrow and then cool down when the rain moves in on Wednesday. Wow, that was quick with the Winter Wonderland … it’ll fit perfectly on the bed! I love seeing your Postage Stamp growing … it sure seems like you’d see some difference in your scrip bin by now, doesn’t it? 😉

Congratulations on finishing! Winter Wonderland looks lovely. You intend to use it on a bed? I would worry with the embroidery, even though I know you and any other crafter will be careful with it. Are you planning to hand quilt it, too? That should really look great.

I love the way your Floral Fantasy quilt is coming along, and the Postage Stamp quilt is a super way of using little scraps. I have filed that idea in my brain for a possibility for 2016. Too many ideas! So little time! I am plugging away quilting my rainbow quilt and have just one more section to go. Then, after putting the sections together, I will need to make the final two borders. Those use 2″ scrappy squares but not enough to make the bunch in the box go down much. I seem to generate more scraps than I use!

Nice way to display the Winter Wonderland embroidery. Our group has finished 5 of the embroidery and all are different. Nice projects and hummer!! (:

When you first started adding the blocks around Winter Wonderland I thought they were overwhelming the embroidered center. But now that I see it on the bed I get it! It looks really good. Floral Fantasy is really coming along!

Another top finished! What a great feeling of accomplishment. Now the postage stamp quilt will really come together fast. Floral Fantasy is so elegant, glad you found the circle you missed. Have a great day!

Winter Wonderland looks great. I can’t believe how quickly you completed all that work. I think it would take me well over a year. Then again, you have quite a list of 2015 finishes. I am impressed.

Your work is all lovely. I absolutely adore your Winter Wonderland quilt! Beautiful work!

  • Susan Sep 7, 2015 @ 13:58

That’s fabulous! I’m so excited to see it getting so far along. I love your frame set-up, too. You have done so many wonderful things this year, and so many by hand! Yes, my scrap box only seems to fill faster when I’m using scraps. What’s with that?

I am tired of this hot weather. Looks like a cool off Wednesday with some rain which we could really use! You are really make good progress on Floral Fantasy. I thought I had used pretty much of my old stash up and my strings box is completely full and I have enough bits and pieces for trailing vines. I don’t think it will ever end.

Your Winter Wonderland quilt looks absolutely fabulous….. as do all the other projects you are working on!! Looks like you have been very creative this year too! Congratulations on all those finishes! Christine x

Congrats on your beautiful Winter Wonderland!! lt looks like the perfect size to me and you could use the extra blocks to make pillow cases/shams/covers, if you wanted. Seems to me you are just zipping along on everything .. lol .. maybe you have a secret you could share … JK .. lol Love the hummer pic, too.

A beautiful finish on Winter Wonderland. Perfect fit on the bed. Your Floral Fantasy is moving along and so pretty. Wow, your finished list is really growing.

  • karenlogcabinquilter Sep 7, 2015 @ 17:43

I like the design you have going with the postage stamp quilt. I could not enlarge the photo. I assume you have plain strips sewn between rows of squares.

  • Jenny Benton Sep 7, 2015 @ 23:56

Your Winter Wonderland top look great! Now – how will you be quilting it, I wonder?

And I love your tiny little pieces in the Postage Stamp blocks, looking forward to seeing that top finished. The blocks look wonderful with all the different splashes of colour.

Excellent finish! I am terrible about checking to see if my quilts will fit on a bed etc. I just decide, hey! The quilt looks finished and so it is.:) Your postage stamp quilt is really coming along. I love the idea that it’s all out of scraps.

  • SuperMom-NoCape! Sep 11, 2015 @ 20:28

My goodness your list of finishes is impressive! And I love the Winter Wonderland finish. It is really lovely. I had no idea it would finish so big. It will be wonderful to sleep under. And Floral Fantasy is going to be stunning!
