The Train Ride Part II

There were just too many photos to do this all in one post as it is I had over 150 photos to go through – I just click so many times.  Now that I am sitting on the opposite side of the train I get to see the scenery that I didn’t going up – a waterfall going out of town a short way.

I find it very hard choosing which photos to post – some are very much the same but yet all are different.

The river we are along the whole way is the Animas River.

For this one I leaned out the window slightly to get the view of the gorge below – gorgeous!!

The engine sure worked to get up this section of the mountain – I felt it was going so slow that you could walk alongside of it (if there was room LOL) and keep up!

As we were in the front on the ride back to Durango I could look out and see the steady stream of cars in back of us – from this angle maybe you can see how high up this is.

Well I hope you all enjoyed the ride – we took the train on Monday the 28th of September.  We had planned on driving to Moab Utah on the 29th but after looking at the weather on the computer for the area we learned they were to be in the high 90’s near 100 degrees for about 3 days and we did not want that so we changed plans and drove to Grand Junction Colorado where the temperatures were to be cooler than that but well into the 80’s.  We decided to stay at a KOA campground that we had been at before on the edge of the town for 3 days and enjoy full hookups and we could have the A/C on as much as we needed.  (still no sewing – sure have been taking a break – what is wrong with me LOL – enjoying the scenery too much I think)

Hi Karen, For some reason I have missed your past posts and glad I found them today. We love Durango, Mesa Verde and Pagossa Springs, but have only been there once several years ago. Haven’t been on that train ride, but it is beautiful. I love that the weather was nice, sorry about the heat though. Now, here in Colorado we are having cool mornings and chilly evenings with some rain/thunder thrown in. We will be in Breckenridge next week and I can’t wait.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

Love the spectacular scenery from the train ride. Don’t worry if you are not sewing, that you can do when you are at home! 🙂

You are so right, what we find comfortable in our thirties doesn’t always stay the same as we get older. I’m glad you took the train ride so I could see all the beautiful scenery.
