Postage Stamp

The last couple of days I have felt like sewing more of the little bits together and I have been quickly going through my stacks of pieces.  I actually need to get out my 3 inch squares and see what I can cut down to 1.5 for more variety – don’t take me wrong I still have hundreds of the little bits but they are mostly solids now and lots of greens and brown – I need more variety so into the scrap boxes I go.  This is what I had on the wall when I started yesterday of the Postage Stamp quilt.

Now I have two more to press, square up and then sew to the row on the wall, then sew the two rows together.

On Diamonds are Forever I am up to the white area before the last diamond in the row so that area was finished last night I assume as I am writing this at 6:30 PM  New Years Day – I assume I got that area done and rolled down again – this is row 5 that is almost complete.

Yesterday we took a drive to see some of the flood damage – this is from a park on the south side of the Arkansas River by the town of Dardanelle, this is a fishing campground – it runs along the river, it is a narrow campground and you are next to the river, but normally there is a bit of a bank – you do not have water up to the picnic tables!  Look at that drift wood that came in – they will have a time cleaning this mess up.  (we are about 20 miles north of this up on a ridge – no worry there)

those big metal stands with the hooks are where you hang your lantern when camping.

This park is just a short way down from the Dam

I’m sure the water will start to go down quickly and clean up will begin the water is still moving really good though right now and very high.  Melanie and I go walking over here sometimes along the river – good exercise in the sand.

ACCUQUILT is having a sale on overstock dies – in stock items only and only while they last.  Look under the “dies” column at the top of their page and it will lead you to the dies on sale.  Sale ends January 31.

(I am compensated for sales made through my links.)

The power of moving water is amazing I think. I hope when you and Melanie next try to walk there things are in better order…
I understand about needing more variety to keep it looking random on your Postage Stamp blocks… good for you that you keep so many different sizes.. I just keep a few sizes currently and use from those to fill my needs.. maybe I will add 3″ squares… will see as I am about to cut up some scraps from the last few quilts! 🙂
Have a blessed and dry weekend friend! Kathi

Diamonds Are Forever is moving right along…. At the rate you are going, you will be finished by spring, maybe sooner….love following along!
So glad to hear that you are on high ground and were not affected by the flooding….
