Quilting & Plants

It is the same old stuff here – I am always working on several projects, looking at the outside plants and doing housework or something.

Yesterday morning I sat down at the machine to work on Tic Tac Toe and the top half of the quilt top is put together.

I think I have 10 birds done now so it is moving along ok

My new pattern Brimfield Awakening arrived.  I am not sure when this well be started as we all know I am working on way too many things at once, once again, but I had a 15% off code to use to ordered.  I’m not sure what fabric choices I will use either – I had some picked out off the shelves to use for another project but I kind of think I would like it for this instead and seeing as I hadn’t started that one I can change my mind if I want to.  These blocks are like wreaths and you applique them to a backing – the white center area can be a fabric joined in and leave the melon pieces out if you wish – so many ideas on the Pinterest page.

Now the plants – I was wandering around looking at what was growing before the rains come – right now they say Sunday or Monday through Thursday – I really don’t want that much – at least it is not supposed to be a much as we had in February (13 inches) possibly 4-9 inches.

The Redbud tree in full bloom – we have more smaller trees and some have a little bit of blossoms on them too but they are harder to see

The azaleas will be open any day now

The tulips and other bulbs are beginning to open.

I don’t remember the name of this one – I originally planted two of these plants about 4 feet apart several years ago and only this one came back – I hate when you buy a perennial and it doesn’t come back like it is supposed to do.

Pretty quilts! Flowers! More flowers! Sitting here waiting for the snow to finally leave.

I also bought Brimfield, but I need to work on Whirligig some more. If I start another EPP, I’ll fall into the black hole of never finishing anything.

you have Brimfield too! I know what you mean about starting too many and not finishing though – this makes two EPP patterns I have and are on hold for now. I know some will start 20 quilts and never finish them and I don’t want that to be me. I need to finish the charity quilt top first and get some more of Round We Go finished first – too many starts – but I am trying to take my time this year as I have 4 quilt tops in the “to be quilted” box and do not want any more piling up for awhile.

So fun to see your pretty green and flowers blooming. My daffodils are slowly opening. I love the Redbud trees – they don’t grow around here. The Brimfield block looks like such a pretty design! It’s always fun to be planning what’s next!

seeing you do blocks of different colors make me wonder if I want to do Brimfield in colors like that – one block of red, one of green etc it doesn’t take large amounts of fabrics to do this quilt though so I think it wouldn’t make a dent in my scraps

What pretty flowers and trees, so spring like. Good progress on your projects, your day sounds just like mine. I love seeing all the flowers coming up and starting to bloom. My yellow Lady Banks climbing rose is in full bloom and the white one is just about to bloom out. My two tree roses have buds about to open too. I always worry about the winter killing them, but so far they have survived. What a pretty project Brimfield will be. I’m thinking about getting the Craftsy Utimate quilters package with the free quilt kit, I think that would be a great deal for me. I’ll be sure to get it through your link if I do. Have a great weekend.

I don’t know what free kit they have to choose from but if you don’t like the pattern the fabric can always be added to the stash for something right! I have been satisfied with my subscription and I’m watching classes I would never had thought to pay for on gardening and cooking. Glad your flowers are doing well

Is that plant Brunnera? They are the earliest plant here and I haven’t checked to see if mine are coming up yet.

It might be that does sound familiar I will need to look it up – I wish I hadn’t lost the second one.
