Not Much To Show for the Day!

What a wasted day yesterday was! Well things got done but not what I wanted.  I think I mentioned a couple weeks ago that the air bags in the motorhome were recalled and we had to bring the motorhome 80 miles to get the work done – well it didn’t get done that time – I think I was so frustrated about it I never even mentioned that.  We had brought the motorhome the 80 miles to get the worked done for a scheduled appointment only to find out that no one had ordered the parts!!  Parts had to be ordered and the appointment was rescheduled for yesterday.

We were told it would take 2 –3 hours – the parts were there – we went – brought it to them by 10 AM and they should have been done by 1 – well we finally  left the place with the work done at 4:30 in the afternoon!!!  So glad we had taken the car with us.  The air bags are installed but it was so frustrating having this be the second trip to get the work done only to find when we went back to get the camper at about 1 (no seems to want to update the customer by phone at this place) the work was still not done as they didn’t seem to realize in advance that the passenger air bag needed to go in through the dashboard which meant taking the shade that goes over the front window off to do the work – they had to figure it out so that took an extra 3 hours I guess.

So we went shopping and we went to the Fort Smith National Historic Site and toured through there – it was a nice day for it and pleasant to walk around outside to see the outside areas.  There has been so much rain this past couple of weeks that there was a lovely mushroom to take a photo of

And here was a small magnolia tree without the buds open – I don’t know what kind it was as the magnolia trees around here all are huge and have huge blossoms on them – none of these were open.

We stopped for supper on the way home, too exhausted by the day too cook – I think the frustration of the day leads me to get tired and have a headache!  – so here are some photos of Fall Harvest from Sunday night – I did do more quilting last night to unwind of course.  If you look at the top of the quilt you will see the top sashing coming into view – the end is almost in sight and will now need to wait until late October to get finished as I am running out of time and I know I won’t finish it this week!  I am linking to Stitch all the Things To Do Tuesday — Esther’s Quilt Blog —

Sorry yesterday was so frustrating but glad you made the most of it taking a nice walk and finding those cool mushrooms… hopefully you won’t have to deal with that dealership for a while now or maybe you can complain to the owner/manager to let them know of your experience!
I am sure you enjoyed getting home to stitch and release your frustration a bit too 🙂 That certainly works for me when I can stitch in those situations! Kathi

Mike had a few complaints made with the service area supervisor before we left but not much else you can do – it was a recall so we certainly didn’t have to argue over a bill

Oh that is frustrating! You probably don’t have another option as far as service either, so that’s even worse you can’t vote on the bad service by taking your business elsewhere. Hope this week is better and that you felt much better after a bit of quilting time.

not much option to us since the place we bought the motorhome from went out of business two years after we bought it – now we find we have to be on the phone looking for a place to do this and that and it isn’t always the same place. — I slept well so that worked out!

That definitely makes for a frustrating day, but glad you found ways to enjoy the waiting time. I’ve never seen a magnolia tree, and didn’t realize that what a blossom looks like. Even the blossom is pretty!

I have always wanted a magnolia tree and never planted one – I really should sometime as they grow really large but they are a slower growing tree then some. I love magnolia blossoms – I think we are about as far north in the south that you see them as they are not seen all over the place here.

Karen, I am no expert but I think what you saw was the seed pods on the magnolias. We have quite a few on our street that bloomed earlier and now look like your picture.

    • Karen Aug 21, 2018 @ 9:07

thanks! I thought they were seed pods but hubby told me otherwise!

Beautiful pictures of the mushrooms and the seed pod. The trees grow here in the DFW area too, and that is a seed pod. The flowers are so beautiful, aren’t they. I’m glad you had a good day even with all that trouble. Quilting is so calming in the evening after all that frustration. What a wonderful finish you’ll have on Fall Harvest when you get home from your trip. Hope today goes better for you.

just plain tired today LOL but things to do – it is a very pretty seed pod from that tree isn’t it!

Oh my I hate when dealerships treat you like as if you have no life. I know it isn’t there fault the air bags were needing replacement but in the service industry you should know parts are needed to do the work. LOL Our backyard had barren spots were the burmuda went into hiding because of the heat and no rain. We irrigate it yet that wasn’t enough. With the rain a week ago we came home to a beautful green backyard with several mushrooms growing. Oh what a difference 6 inches of rain can make. LOL

with so many things needing new air bags you would think they would have the process down wouldn’t you! We had to seed the backyard in May after have septic tank work done and it has rained so much that you can barely even tell that the back yard had been dug up and destroyed!! It is lumpy in places but full of grass.

Definitely sounds like a frustrating and tiring day! It’s good that the work is finally done and you found something interesting to do while you were waiting. Fall Harvest is getting closer and closer!

    • Karen Aug 21, 2018 @ 19:36

yes frustrating especially seeing as there is still a lot here at home to do before we leave but glad it is done – I tend to fret over stuff for days on end and complain about it and Mike has already forgotten lol

It seems like most rv/vehicle places have their own time zone – and the customer’s time is a non-factor. Somebody sure dropped the ball on making sure parts were available and waiting. Our diesel truck went out while on one of our trips to Alaska. We were stuck in Fort St. John, Alberta for days, waiting for special parts only to find out later, it would have been a simple fix of turning off a switch that was interfering with the car’s computer. Thank goodness for a rental car – at least we could leave the campground and explore. Love how your basket quilt is coming along…something incredibly special!

    • Karen Aug 21, 2018 @ 19:37

this place was a Dodge dealership as the motorhome has a dodge sprinter base so they are the ones that need to care for that stuff – Sounds like you had a rough time on your trip to Alaska – one day I would like to go but heaven knows when we will get to it. Rental cars sure come in handy don’t they glad you had one

    Dear Karen

Work never gets time in the allotted time, so we know to have a plan b. Lucky you going on adventures soon. You get to take your motor home, with everything you need, without having to deal with weight, planes and suitcases. Your fall harvest is beautifully, love all the handquilting.

    • Karen Aug 21, 2018 @ 20:57

thanks Maggie we are looking forward to the mountains! the motorhome travel is relaxing and we can just sit and enjoy the outdoors and towing a vehicle behind is reassuring so we know if we have trouble with one vehicle we have another!!

  • Glenda Austrlaia Aug 22, 2018 @ 4:44

Oh Karen it sounds like a ghastly long time to hang around but I DID enjoy your day for you LOL Lovely to see the mushrooms so white on that lovely GREN back ground some thing we don’t see in the wet tropics is grass in the gardens???? I sure miss that after growing up in NZ to pastures of green every where!!!!! That Magnolia flower is going to be a giant???? Cheers Glenda

    • Karen Aug 22, 2018 @ 7:13

LOL – yes at least we were able to wander about and see somethings and were not sitting in the waiting area the whole long time – but I kept thinking – what if we hadn’t brought the car along – would they have given us a loaner car to use I wonder? so glad we were not stuck at the dealer waiting around all day! I found out later the magnolia was a seed pod that I showed not the bud waiting to open and yes the flower gets very large – about 6 inches across usually I think.
