This is a really interesting place – some of this “museum” is inside and a good portion of it is outside.
Paths to wander through,
More weird shape cacti
Look at all the spines on this one – I really would not like to fall onto any of these!!
This snake was behind glass in a display case – I didn’t see one snake this whole trip so far – lets hope it stays that way
A Fish Hook Barrel Cactus
And if you couldn’t see those spines good enough here is a close up – do you think maybe people of years gone by perhaps really used them for fish hooks – or I could see making a hole on one end and using it or a curved needle!!
This is one of the tall saguaro cactus’s with the little beginnings of a new branch. This is what the branches look like when they begin – I refer to them as “baby branches”
And this one is very big!
And this one is called a “snake cactus”
We were lucky enough to see a few with flowers on them
Next post will be scheduled tomorrow. A little more than a week and I will be home posting all about quilt progress again and yard work – I do thank you all for tagging along on this trip. I have enjoyed Arizona a bit more than I thought I would truthfully – maybe because the weather is much cooler than I thought it would be. I am not sure what kind of wifi I will have on this final week traveling home so you might hear more from me – and you might not! But once I get home I will quickly get back into my normal routine as I always do.

Great pictures from the Desert Museum, Karen! You’re making me want to go there! I bet you’re really ready to be home – safe travels to you.
I’m ready for home – will be there in about a week
I just love all the pictures of the cacti, so beautiful. I’ve always loved Arizona and wanted to live there, but one time we were there in July, and it was so hot, we changed our minds. The cacti and succulents have always been my favorites. The snake scares me just by looking at the picture. I hope I never come across one too. I know you want to come home, but I hope you enjoy the last week too.
I have been keeping an eye on the weather at home and needed to remind Melanie to bring some of the plants back in the house saw it might get down to 38 on early Monday morning – yes you are right I am ready to get home but I well enjoy this last week. Arizona would be way too hot in the summer I’m sure – from what my nephew says he pretty much goes to work and stays inside in the summer — some go there for the end of fall to early spring then head north – that sounds good to me
Karen, I’ve enjoyed “traveling” with you, seeing things through your eyes.
Hey Charlotte glad to see you have been following along I am ready for this last week on the road and getting home – I’m very ready to get back to my routine and a bigger space to cook and sew in!! Hope you are doing well
Wonderful photos, I always love seeing where other people live, and go on holiday
Thanks Jenny we love seeing all these new places
Another gorgeous set of photos, Karen! I don’t know if you choose the ads for the featured products or not, but I think it’s funny that there was an ad at the bottom of your post for curved needles when you showed the picture of the curved spines on the cactus.
That is funny I didn’t even look to see what the advertisements were sometimes I have noticed that they go with whatever I’m talking about but not always
Amazing sites and such interesting photographs!
some of these are really unusual places
