I have not had a lot of time for sewing or quilting this week. Been doing a bit of running around and lots of time on the yard!
A little quilting from Tuesday night and the quilt was rolled down and started back in the center last night – the feathers are what take the longest to quilt – the rest goes quickly. Linking to Creative Compulsions #4 – a blog of beading but you can link anything creative here – Michelle used to quilt and loves the art!
I was down at the garden turning soil over – I have a half of one bed to do where the whole thing is being worked up – plants and bulbs to plant and then mulch. I am not doing much in veggies this year. The furthest bed that has two green plants in it in this photo – those are from some bulbs that I planted last year and of course the marker has disappeared and I haven’t a clue what they are LOL – it will be a surprise unless I go back in my blog and find them – the far left side of that bed also has a peony which is coming up fast. The green cement block garden needs to be dug up and decide what will go in there – I might need to build that one up another level as it is shallow and things didn’t grow well in it last year.
In one of the beds that I didn’t get a photo of half the bed is herbs – the oregano is greening up and smells wonderful – I just ran out of the oregano dried from last year a week or two ago.
And a good size plant of rosemary- it needs a little trimming. I have room in this half of the bed for a basil plant or two also. Then on the other side of the bed I can fit two tomato plants – my basil rarely grows well for some reason so I’m not going to waste a lot of room on it. I did get the mulch spread around the new tree but I forgot to get a photo. It has been so nice outside that I actually sat out and read my kindle for a short while.
And that is it! today it is supposed to rain at some point so maybe I can get something done in the sewing room after I get some groceries in for the weekend with our daughter and granddaughter coming in I need more food in the house – but I never seem to know what I want to cook and at times plans completely change and we run out and get something else. And of course the house needs to be cleaned.

Nothing beats the smell of fresh herbs! Looks like you are enjoying playing in the dirt! 🙂
Your herbs look wonderful! I haven’t grown anything like that – I wonder if they do well in pots. Glad you’re having such nice weather for outside work. Ours is just getting started. I’m enjoying seeing your quilting on Good Fortune progress, too.
Thank you for mentioning Creative Compulsions!
I had to giggle about your “surprise bulbs.” I can relate! Your herbs look beautiful! Thanks for sharing your garden. I’ve always found them to be living art.
We love basil, but so do the deer, so we didn’t get much last year. Thankfully they do not have a taste for rosemary or lavender! They wintered over fine.
