Only a little quilting to show today – yesterday was not much of a quilting/sewing day – this much was done on Saturday night and on Sunday I rolled down the quilting frame and started back in the middle. One more roll down and I will be at the half way point! And already at 7 weeks on Tuesday on this quilt and 62 hours of quilting – this one will take close to 4 months to finish I think at this rate.
Yesterday as I said not a lot got accomplished for a change – unexpected plans came up when we found out our grandson was within 75 minutes of driving from us and could we meet him near the interstate before he headed west back to the Army Base. So we did! – we drove over in the afternoon to near Fort Smith and met him at a Cracker Barrel for dessert and coffee/coke and were able to visit for about an hour before he headed back to the base. We are normally about 5 hours from him at least with where he is stationed so it was a nice surprise. He will be deployed in another 2 months so we won’t have another chance probably to see him this year. It was worth the drive and a great excuse not to work on the mulch! and of course I totally forgot to take a photo but here is one from a couple months ago – I still need to get two picture frames for a couple new photos that I have
It was up to 84 yesterday and maybe again today – I have no excuse to not work on the mulch today but this morning Melanie and I are going to the nature trails for a walk – she is trying to get her strength back after being so sick this winter. We took a mile walk on Saturday morning and will do that again today and then on her work days Tuesday – Saturday she might try to walk on her lunch break around the blocks in town a little bit and we will try to walk on the days she has off. So glad you got to spend time with your Gson. He is really growing up! Sorry Melanie is still not back to “normal.” But the walks should help, especially with the beautiful green of spring. I love this time of year – every day outside is a surprise, and the colors are wonderful.
What a nice surprise to be able to meet up with your grandson.
Sorry to hear that Melanie is still not back to her old self. Sometimes recovery takes a lot longer than anyone expects. Great idea to go on walks together now that the weather is getting better.
It’s great that you were able to meet up with your grandson on the spur of the moment like that! I hope he’s doing well. The trails where you walk look beautiful – a pretty place for helping Melanie build her strength back up. Good Fortune is looking good – every little bit counts!
Sounds like a well rounded weekend, visit with Grandson, a little walk with Melanie and a little stitching!
Mulch can always wait! Lucky you were able to visit with your grandson yesterday. Your hand quilting is making progress — more than mine last week. Hopefully I’ll make more progress on it this week.
What a great treat to see your grandson!
What a wonderful day…..time with the grandson. Tell him that we thank him for his commitment to protect out country.
How sweet of your grandson to contact you so you could spend some time together. Best reason ever not to be quilting. Also, gorgeous place for you and Melanie to be walking—it will strengthen her soul as well as her body!
So nice you got to see your grandson! And you & Melanie have a pretty place to walk.
From one military family to another – thank your grandson for his service. I always keep our armed service members in my prayers.
