A little quilting at least well be done in the evenings but not much sewing in the daytime this week – I have so much in the yard to get done and I took a walk around last night and thought Ok I need to add cutting grass to the list too! – Believe the outside chore list is growing every day it seems. I will try to get done with what I can before we get rain on the weekend again.
Good Fortune from Monday night – I had the side border drawn on before I finished and that is where I got started last night for a little while before I got ready to read a little and go to bed.
While the evening news had been on I worked on the border a little bit on the crochet.
The apple tree is in blossom for the third year – wonder if I will get anything decent this year – have not yet had a good apple that the birds didn’t get or the worms.
The azalea’s are all getting ready to bloom
Our new little tree has leafed out well this week and I got some bedding plants in there and one tulip came up from last year that I tried to not disturb while planting the tree – it is very odd to have a tulip blossom the second year here and I found an older one on the side of the house – with one bud – unusual.
I have been reading the Virgin River series by Robyn Carr – very easy reading, romance just a fun read while busy with other things – the library seems to have most of the books so far. A nice change from the police/medical/political type drama that I normally read. I wouldn’t waste my money on these but if you have them in your library they are ok.

There’s always a lot to do in the yard this time of year, isn’t there? We’ve done Spring clean-up in the front yard so far, but are saving the backyard until after this storm that’s supposed to be coming in this afternoon. Your flower bed around the new tree looks great! Is the border on your afghan following the color order of the main part? It’s really going to be pretty!
The Good Fortune is coming along. Good luck with the outdoor stuff!!!
Oh, you’ve been so busy the last three days! I just finished reading the last three days posts finally. I love your afghan, almost finished! I haven’t even opened my tablet for the last three days, as I was trying to do some work in my yard and carrying out all my houseplants before my surgery yesterday. Everything went fine, but my hand is so bandaged up I can’t stitch anything, and there’s still pain. Stitches come out in two weeks, so hopefully I can then. I love seeing all your pictures of your yard and projects, your flowers are so pretty. We’re suppose to get up to 90, and then rain and cooler this weekend. Your applique on Morning Glory is looking so good too. Have a wonderful relaxing day whatever you do.
What a fun post you had today.. I love love love how your weeping cherry is already embracing it’s new home at your home… and the flowers around it look great… we are enjoying a few .. very few… tulips ourselves here in the mountains 🙂
Good Fortune and the afghan are looking GREAT! Slow and steady wins the race in my book! I am about to start the 5th quilt block here AND finally made 1 of 3 table ironing surfaces… I had to get my plan from my head out into a ironing surface to make sure it would work and IT DOES 😀
I am glad sharing that I mailed the signature block may have jogged others to send you one too 🙂 That was a bit of my plan ! lol
Enjoy your yardwork and your new book series you are enjoying… I just started listening to books on my phone via headphones while I quilt and am LOVING that !!!

Your new garden looks great!
Do you use the oil spray on your apple tree. I’ve heard its a must if you want to harvest fruit. I love how your quilting Good Fortune makes me want to start a bright colorful quilt.
Love the blanket you’re crocheing. Think to start a blanket myself… :)…. Hope you get your cores done before the weekend. This year I’m on track with my garden…
Good Fortune is beautiful. You are making good progress on it.
Glad that you are making such progress on Good Fortune! I’ve got to get out in the yard too. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
I love seeing your garden along with your sewing and knitting projects, Karen! We don’t get repeat blooms from tulips in NC, either. I tried for three years in a row when we first moved here before I finally gave up. I did them with an “annual color” mentality for a few years, but I lost interest in the flower beds when I threw my back out pulling weeds. I’d rather put that effort into colorful quilts, because they STAY colorful year after year, no weeds grow up between the quilting stitches, and no bugs/bunnies/deer try to eat them… Although one of my sons has a terrible habit (even now, as a teenager!) of chewing the corners of throw pillows and blankets while he’s watching movies or reading a book and gets to the scary part!
Great quilting on your Good Fortune. I hope to hand quilt mine too.
Great progress on your quilt! Love all your garden pictures, especially with that very happy azalea! As for the apple tree, do you have any ideas on how to keep the squirrels away? I have a baby tree that had 7 apples last year, and the squirrels took them all 🙁
