I sometimes think Star quilts are my favorite to make these photos are just some and are out of order – all made in the last 20 years at my guess. Besides the star quilt I showed the other day I have these:
Scrappy Stars I sold this one a couple years back. This shows the quilt before I quilted it. Machine pieced and machine quilted with straight lines.
Nancy’s Stars a quilt I made for my granddaughter Ciera – the quilt pattern and some of the fabrics had been bought by her other grandma with the intention of making it for her but she died before she could make it so Jessica gave it to me and I added fabric to it as Ciera was no longer a baby and it needed to be enlarged. I named the quilt after her other grandma and put the story on the back of the quilt that it was from both of her grandma’s. Machine pieced
this quilt is called Twisted Stars – it was intended to be paper pieced – but because I like things to be more complicated I hand pieced it LOL – one of my favorites and I still have it and comes out on the bed regularly.
I barely remember this quilt – a baby quilt and it was made in the early 2000’s I believe it was sold or a gift. Machine pieced
I just called this one Mariner’s Compass I don’t remember where I got the pattern at, it is hand pieced and hand quilted. I still have this one I need to find a place for it to hang.
A Feather Star – it comes out every year at Christmas – machine pieced.
This pattern was from a book Cookie’s and Quilts but I don’t remember the pattern name – I no longer have this one someone bought it from me. Yes I need to keep better records I guess but after you have made as many quilts as I have you get kind of slack on it I guess. I also need to save my photos better. Machine pieced.
this one from 2008 – I designed this one but used the center from a pattern I had – I still have this one it is a heavy quilt and comes out in the winter sometimes, it is one of Mike’s favorites. Most of this is machine pieced.
Star Crazy from a Sue Garman pattern – machine pieced.
So that is 9 star quilts made in the last 19 years all hand quilted as I normally make them. I did start machine piecing quilt tops a lot more over the years as you can see most of these are. I have a feeling there might be another one or two. What I have learned from going back through Pinterest is that I need to save my photos better!!!

I love star quilts, too, and you’ve made many beautiful ones! I love the one you made for Ciera that was begun by her other grandma – what a sweet thing for you to do. I’m enjoying reading about your earlier quilts! Hope you’re having a great trip!
These are lovely, and it’s nice to get a “retrospective” quilt show online! Thanks for sharing them. Hope you are enjoying your trip – I look forward to reading about it, too.
What a beautiful story about Nancy’s Stars, so touching. I love stars too and love Twisted Sister’s, the best I think. The others are so beautiful and look so complicated to make, you truly are talented! I LOVE seeing all these quilts you’ve made, quite a show. You’ve made so many quilts you could have a one woman show! Hope you’re having a wonderful trip so far and enjoying yourselves.
Oh Karen, these are beautiful! I’m thinking I may want to make one like the first one you showed on down the line. I had to laugh about you handpiecing twisted stars instead of paper-piecing. I did the same with a New York Beauty.
I love stars to
