My post for my final tally of 2019 didn’t get done so it is my first post this year.
I didn’t have any finishes until March – My queen size hand quilted Retro Air Ship Propellers was my first finish – it had been put on the hand quilting frame at the end of 2018 and finished March 2019 – this quilt now belongs to Melanie
In April a small table runner was made – machine pieced, needle turn applique, hand and machine quilted
June brought the end to Good Fortune which started out with a white background and ended up a pink quilt due to bleed that I was never able to get out no matter what remedy I tried. It is machine pieced, hand quilted and queen size
Through out the summer I had things in process but no finishes in quilting – in November my huge flannel quilt called Crossroads was finished–machine pieced, hand quilted about 100 x 100
Then I had a string of finishes on small projects and one medium top first came a scrappy flannel hexie table topper in early December this too was hand quilted
The RSC19 Scrappy Stars soon followed – this quilt is 75 x 75 inches machine pieced and will be hand quilted sometime this year. I enjoyed making this quilt month to month with the RSC group and intend to make a new quilt this year with the group.
Next up was the finish of Brimfield Awakening – a wall hanging – EPP and applique, hand quilted.
three Red Work Santa’s were finished in December – I will decide this year if more will be done for a Christmas project at the end of the year
One last quilting project was a small quilted panel that will make a decoration or the library in the winter or if it can’t be used there will be a baby quilt – I hand quilted this but not closely.
That rounded out the finishes on quilts this year – in progress on quilts hoping to make progress on these in 2020 are Morning Glory, Daisy Chain, Panama Pyramids, The Hertfordshire Quilt, Alaska and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – The Red Work Santa’s and because I am totally nuts two more quilts will be added to the list – a new RSC20 quilt and possibly a Christmas quilt using the same pattern I choose for the RSC but in different colors. EDITED: and the Signature Quilt – I haven’t forgotten all those sigs you guys sent me I just haven’t had time to start them
2019 was also the year I got back into crochet and learning how to knit again – in January I made a red crochet scarf
A multi color Tunisian Crochet scarf I never took a final photo but it did have a finish
The Trellis Stripe crochet blanket was fun to make and that belongs to Melanie now
Next came a first try at a crochet sweater – would you believe Melanie has that too!
A multi color pull over sweater in July and yes Melanie again – you have to watch her close she tends grab things I make unless I control her LOL
In September I finished a Granny Square afghan which is now Ciera’s -she also took a queen size older quilt home with her in November that she wanted
And the last finished crochet project in November was a Jade Green Shawl/Blanket and Jessica has that and an older queen size quilt that she loved.
Last up is a knitted brown sweater that is not finished hope to finish that this winter and have 2 more afghans planned. I think all of these projects will keep me busy – I wonder how many I can finish and will I stick to my list!!
Happy New Year — linking to To-Do-Tuesday —

Happy new year, Karen! My goal for 2020 is to focus and accomplish more, cutting down my UFO list. I also want to make my mom (age 97) some smaller pieces that she can use as gifts. I realized she gets a bit stressed these days because people give her things and then she wants to give them something, too. I love the way your family helps keeps snapping up your finished items. Helps keep your storage space from overflowing!
Happy New Year Karen, hope 2020 is good for you. Its lovely to see your beautiful collection of projects from 2019 and I’m looking forward to following your progress this year.
You got a lot accomplished this year – all of it beautiful! I was wondering what you ever did with your pink Good Fortune – maybe use it during February? 🙂 Your crochet finishes are amazing! I love that Melanie takes so many of your completed projects! Nice to have a appreciative daughters!
What an array of beautiful projects! Loved them all and so enjoyed watching your progress. Meanwhile I did take advantage of the Green Fairy sales link in your post and made an order…have ordered from them before and they were great.
Hope 2020 is your best year yet!!
I don’t think that I been following your blog when you posted the propeller quilt. But hands down its my favorite. And it looks so great in that setting. I’m about to start a pillow for a granddaughter for her birthday…. need to get going as need it by Friday evening. Congratulations on your beautiful handmade items. I remember back when I was a kid, ‘handmade’ wasn’t a welcome gift. I must of been a renegade but I made and gave many handmade gifts right up until they became an “In thing”. I bet others remember that also. I didn’t quilt back then but started just at the cusp of the change of handmade becoming ‘acceptable’ gift giving. As I’m thinking, not sure if it was only a regional thing or not. We have lived in New England, currently in Maine.
Dear Karen
So many finishes! You definitely created a lot in 2019, who knows how much you will create in 2020. Looking forward to see all your projects. Making hand made gifts are the best. The requests for them increase every year. Tunisian crochet looks interesting, will check it out on blueprint!
I think you had a great year of finishes considering the time for all of that hand quilting. It’s great that your family loves your hand made items and especially that they take home some of the older quilts. I hate to give up any of my new projects and have to own them awhile before they can leave my house. Here’s hoping you have a great 2020 with lots of fun projects.
You certainly made some woppa quilts in 2019, there are some real beauties. I like the way your daughter gets in quick and has some of your finishes. One of the previous comments made me smile though, it does free up storage space! Hope you have a creative 2020!
Hi Karen, Happy New Years.
You have some wonderful finishes in 2019 and I’m looking forward to seeing what your working on in 2020. It’s wonderful that your family is interested in what you are making and freeing up some more space for you to create.
I need to organize my projects and get some more finishes this year and I have a few new projects planned also just to keep it interesting.
Kim
Hi Karen! What a nice recap post. You had quite a few finishes especially when you add in the crochet/knitting. I just love that first table runner you shared – did you make it especially in mind with having that wooden basket in between the decorations? It fits perfectly. And I think Melanie is one lucky quilt owner! Happy New Year and thanks for linking up. ~smile~ Roseanne
Karen, I loved the look back, at your projects for 2019! I had forgotten about the Retro Air Ship Propellers being a 2019 project, thinking that you made it earlier. Love that quilt!
Happy New Year… and many happy hours working on all your projects, whatever they may be!
I just knew you’d have a lot of finishes to share—and to think that’s mostly hand work. It’s fun to look back at them. The combination of quilt and blanket in the last photo is delightful. I especially like the gold background setting off the stars in the quilt. Wishing you a quilty (and yarn) filled new year.
Just got caught up on all your posts. You have such wonderful finishes!! And I am sure a great plan for 2020. Good luck on your goals.
So wonderful to see all your finishes for the year, you achieved such a lot of hand quilting, and took to crochet with a vengeance. It’s so nice that your girls want our quilts and crocheted blankets, your jerseys too have left home with a new owner!
May 2020 be another great year for you, healthy, of course, we all want that, and lots of time for stitching and working on various projects.
I am jealous of Melanie because that Propellers quilt is absolutely fantastic. But then when I saw the Pink quilt, it was sobering. I am sorry. Eventually I feel overwhelmed by the deluge of varied and lovely projects. I am sure you have enough quilts, scarves and sweaters to keep a small country warm. Wishing you lots of joy and creativity in the next so that you may continue to be an inspiration 🙂
You have such a nice list of finishes, and the quilts are so lovely. The fact that you hand quilted so much is amazing!
I got back into crochet last year, and I want so badly to learn to knit a pair of socks! I’ve looked at a few videos in the past but just haven’t picked up needles to try it after a disastrous try a few years ago.
Another amazing year of finishes Karen — You always get so much done with your hand quilted quilts — I’m always in awe! Looking forward to another great year of projects from you — Happy New Year!
So many lovely finishes, Karen! It doesn’t look like you’ll ever have to worry about having too many projects stacking up around your house since your girls are quick to grab them up!
Beautiful finishes! Melanie sounds a lot like my SIT, she’s been known to lay claim to many of my quilts and such. Congrats on the finishes for 2019, wishing you lots of success with your 2020 projects.
A beautiful and impressive array of amazing projects. May your creativity continue to flourish in the New Year.
