Progress – Progress! what else to do on a rainy day and can’t go anywhere!! Early in the afternoon I had made some of the nine patch cornerstones so I took everything down off the wall to start rearranging color and put cornerstones in place so I could get an idea of size – yes a little crooked but what else is new – right! I hope the weather clears up today – the weather says it should – they better be right!
Then I took a break to use up some overripe bananas and made banana date bread – 2 loaves – Melanie is stopping by before she goes to work to pick one up that I have sliced for her so it will be ready to snack on at work – I put a little sprinkle of cinnamon over the top before I put it in to bake just to see what that would be like – I liked it. I spray the pan with spray and put parchment paper in to make sure it doesn’t stick – has happened one too many times to me. I didn’t add this one to my recipe tab – the banana bread recipe is in the Betty Crocker cookbook under nut breads – variations banana and date bread – I kind of combined the two as I only had 2 bananas and I doubled so I made basically one recipe of banana bread and one date bread combining all the ingredients in the same mixing bowl!
Then it was back in the sewing room to make more cornerstones – this is where I will pick up today. The sashing is one strip of red with two strips of the neutral colors around it – the border is shown as a light red and a dark red – the dark being on the outside edge – I will look through my reds – I am pretty sure I have enough to use without ordering any. I believe this will fit the living room wall at Christmas time to decorate –
I just realized I forgot to include a photo of Dresden Garden – I finished the end and rolled it down – I am on the final stretch now all across – no flowers just the Baptist Fans – I will show a photo tomorrow. Linking to To-Do-Tuesday —

Those nine patch cornerstones are really nice. It’s going to be a lovely quilt!
Coming along really well. Love the nine patches added to this one. I’ve used pears and banana to make muffins and they came out great.
Oh those nine patches are really going to make those blocks sing! Rain is headed our way too. So far the sun is shining. We actually had dinner on the deck last night; it was just a tad chilly, but oh so nice!
I saw your first picture, and thought, “oh look!” That’s going to be fun with all those 9 patches and the way you describe your border. The banana bread sounds delicious, too! I’m in the mood to bake something, but not sure what it will be.
It’s going to be beautiful Karen!
I need to get my bananas out of the freezer and make some bread!! Thanks for the inspiration! Love the Christmas blocks.
Your nine patch cornerstones are lovely — your quilt is coming along nicely!
The Christmas Charmer just gets more and more fabulous! I love the effect adding the cornerstones gives. So pretty! Your bread looks so yummy. Your daughter is a lucky lady to have you as her mom.
Hi Karen! Ooh, I like the look at your cornerstone blocks. I never think to do something so cute – I usually go with the just plain, boring borders. Your bread look delicious! I made some last week only I made the small loafs, and then gave some to my nephew because he enjoys banana bread. This stay-at-home business is making me feel like baking – something I can control. Thanks so much for linking up this week and stay safe. ~smile~ Roseanne
love those beautiful blocks
Looks like there is still a bit of sewing to complete the borders and cornerstones, but you will get there, of course. This is going to be a fabulous quilt indeed.
Your bread sure looks yummy! Makes me want to bake something. Rainy days are great for sewing!
Those 9-patches will really make that quilt sing! Oh, I can almost smell your bannana date bread! YUM!
