I thought I would be getting done with more seeing as I am staying at home but I am finding so far this is not so because I am on the computer too much and social media!! I have to find a line and draw it so I will get projects done.
On Wednesday night I did quilt on Dresden Garden and got some done but had a stress headache by the end of the day just thinking of all that was going on.
Also I was working on my crochet on the porch and in the house – it was around 70 and cloudy and rainy but I was out there for awhile and it felt good
One more Christmas block done bringing to only 4 more to go!!
Our little Weeping Cherry Tree beginning to have its blooms open – I wonder how many years before it will be fuller.
I tried for a close up but couldn’t get it to focus very well – the blossom are pretty although small.
And the one little clump of tulips are open
If you have hand sanitizing wipes and are still driving places make sure to remember to wipe off your steering wheels, gear shift, radio dials – whatever you use – also your phone, house door handle outside! it is all the little things we take for granted that we never think about. My daughters and I were discussing it yesterday as Melanie is still going to work – it is on our minds. If you do not have hand sanitizer wipes you could put some liquid Lysol in a small bucket with hot water – put on your kitchen gloves and use a dish cloth. It kills germs too.

Sorry you are feeling stressed. The uncertainty of it all is tough on everyone. I think it will be several weeks before we will be back to “normal.” The media is great at informing us, but it is incessantly unhappy news. Maybe it’s OK to be connecting with people online more just for the reassurance?
You are being too hard on yourself, Karen! We have to do whatever we have to do to get through the days right now, I think. I appreciate the online connections with my friends and other bloggers because that’s all we’ve got. The news is definitely hard to take, though – not much positive out there! Your latest Christmas block is so cute – I love the zigzag fabric! Pretty tulips, too.
Our tulips haven’t opened yet… yours look lovely.. are they fuschia or red in real life?
Our world is changing before our eyes… stay focused on your crafts… limit online and news times if you can so you aren’t thinking so much about it.
Your afghan is coming out wonderful… your Christmas blocks are beautiful…. I love your dresden garden. Take care dear friend! Kathi
I say do whatever keeps you looking on the bright side, and if that’s hanging out online or on social media some days, great! Your projects are coming along nicely. I am sewing Christmas stuff, too, these days … It has me wondering what the world will look like come December. Wishing you happy and healthy sewing, Karen!
Hi Karen, your Christmas blocks are so cheerful! Keep safe and healthy!
It’s good you have a variety of projects to choose based on your moods. The cherry blossoms will be fuller next year. Have you heard this about plants/trees: The first year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap!
I find I have to quit looking at social media (especially Facebook) because it either makes me anxious or irritated, so I scan it a couple times a day then leave it be. The blog updating is taking too much time, but certainly giving me a diversion! I’m impatient and want it to be done so I can post. Meanwhile, we are trying to find shows to watch and I’m trying to get some sewing on my current projects. Hope you can find a better, less stressful, rhythm!
Pretty blocks all together!
Your little purple tulips are beautiful and I love your Christmas block! As my family is all staying home, I don’t quite understand why I should be constantly disinfecting everything in our house. I keep doing it anyway, because the CDC has scared the daylights out of me, but in the back of my mind I’m arguing with them — if no one is coming or going and we’ve all been cooped up with one another 24/7 for days, all of our household germs are being shared with one another anyway!
Even sporadic work gets things done. But I hear you about social media. I see to get on Facebook daily. I used to only look at it once every 3 or 4 days. I figure that’s how we’re socializing now. Keep up the good work or is it play?
I know what you mean about being stressed. I couldn’t stitch yesterday, I just felt out of sorts with everything going on. I decided to read blogs and just as I was reading your blog the internet went out. Luckily after an hour and half on the phone they said someone needed to come out Tuesday…………….what????? But they put us a list to come sooner if possible and about a hour later they were out. Not sure if people were cancelling appts and we got lucky or what Sometimes I think we just need days to ourselves with nothing required of us! Loveing your Chrismas blocks.
I think the Corona virus has us all distracted. It’s taking up a lot of space in our brains, worrying about our loved ones, making sure we stay safe ourselves. Social media may be more important than projects right now.
Love your latest block! It will be such a great quilt when done. I can’t remember, will there be sashing and cornerstones?
Yay for your cool block! and what a pretty blossom!
I feel your pain Karen — I’m spending too much time online and listening to the news too. Just have to turn it all off! I love that sweet little fan quilting you’re doing on your quilt — fan quilting is my current favorite. And your Christmas blocks are looking great — thanks for the inspiration!!!
Gorgeous projects. I’m glad you shared your blossoms too. I like that all the plants are coming back to life and that we can go outside and enjoy them during these uncertain times.
