Ok guys this sounds crazy but the weather channel said we might get up to 80 degrees today – I kind of doubt it but it is more and more staying in the 60’s but 80? we will see.
I was planting little plants in pots yesterday, did a little crochet and knitting but spent a bit of time chatting with my sister on the east coast and my daughter in WI. That was more important then the sewing room!
I did receive this in the mail today – 12” patterns for a Pineapple quilt – a whole tablet of the pages – it makes 42 blocks from the Fat Quarter Shop. These are in their shop for $10.98. (they also have daily flash sales) Also available for 6 inch blocks. Really not sure when I will start this but I saw it and thought of all the scraps that could be used.
and inside – if you are unfamiliar on how to paper piece or with a pineapple block pattern there are instructions on the back of the front cover. My photos look a little odd shape to me – they are square,
Dresden Garden a little more from Tuesday night
I was asked what color thread I’m I using as it looks different colors – yes it is different – Aurifil #12 color #4662 – I just finished the partial spool I had and started a new on last night.
And seeing as I have nothing else to share sewing related – here are photos from outside. I planted 3 tomato plants in pots on the deck and 2 kinds of lettuce – in pots and I can bring in or cover easily if the weather turns cold.
I have two clumps of hyacinth’s about the same colors I believe
More daffodil varieties.

And these are Black Eyed- Susan’s terrible over grown and need to be dug up and spaced apart more – I’m sure that is probably best to do in the fall and I’m just going to leave them be this year – they stay like this most of the winter after the flowers die off and the top of the plants.

Those pineapples should be fun! A whole notepad full of the foundation patterns is a great idea. So your Aurifil 12/2 — that’s the heavier stuff, right? Is it a red spool? At first glance I thought it was an orange spool, the 50/3 I use for piecing and I was shocked that it was strong enough to hand quilt with. Then I noticed the sticker on the bottom of the spool! Your garden growth is so exciting. There is nothing like seeing those shoots of green poking out of the ground after a long winter, is there?
I made a slew of 5″ pineapple blocks, paper pieced, for my Long Time Gone quilt. I do love that block but hate taking the paper out. Buying pre-printed papers is really sensible, especially for the larger sizes bigger than 8.5 x 11″. I have lots of strings even after making several string projects. Guess I should think about using them in pineapple blocks.
I can’t get over how quickly the Dresden is coming along! I have wanted to make a pineapple quilt for a long time. It just hasn’t made it up the list yet.
I have a pineapple ruler that I hope to use to make some blocks out of scraps. But, first I need to get some other things finished too many on going projects right now. We were 86 yesterday but rain will cool things down over the next few days. I am so glad that it’s warming up!
I step away for a few days and you get all kinds of progress accomplished! Loving the Christmas stars!!!
Wow…pretty flowers popping up! We got more snow this week…good for the ongoing Iditarod race. What pretty thread for the Dresdan garden quilt…coming along nicely.
I’ve seen people making pineapple blocks from those papers – they make a beautiful block! Whenever you do decide to start playing with them, I bet that will be a fun project. Love seeing everything that’s growing there, too. I have green shoots for tulips and daffodils coming up, but nothing blooming yet except the crocuses. Enjoy your nice weather!
Your spring flowers are so pretty! Glad you got to chat with family yesterday. Always more important!
Have never used the Aurifil for hand quilting but I keep thinking that I need to try it. Always so wonderful to see the detail work on your quilting. It’s a quiet, slower way to get a quilt finished, but wowsers, so, so pretty. Spring is coming so quickly this year! My daughter has been slaving away cleaning up her garden areas.
I watched a video from Edyta Sitar showing how to make a pineapple block…she made it look easy. But I’m so happy to see your garden photos. That gives me a lift because I know that time is coming for us too. Smart to start with pots that you can move about if needed.
