Finally several orders came in yesterday and wouldn’t you know it they were the last ones I ordered just a couple days ago! I’m still waiting on others from 2 weeks ago – they will arrive I know one day but when I wonder LOL I have more thread coming from the Fat Quarter Shop and wide backs from Connecting Threads.
One order I got was from The Green Fairy – very fast service – I’m sure it helps as they work out of their home. I ordered a wool felt tote bag kit – just because I liked it and I thought it would be nice to keep a small yarn or fabric project in. The embellishment is not included you add that yourself – I have a box of bright wool felt pieces to use so that was ok with me. Maybe some hexie flowers to add? a thought – I couldn’t get a direct link for some reason but if you are interested in the bag if you click on the above link and then do a search for tote bag it will lead you to it – only one left!
All the tote bag pieces are already cut out and labeled. I’m not sure if my Babylock will handle the thickness of this – I might need to get the Juki back out.
Also included is a key fob and I have the perfect piece of embroidered ribbon to sew onto it for decoration
The bright wools that I have – I think I have another box somewhere as well
I also ordered a Moda Scrap bag and got a nice arrangement of reds! that is great as I did use up a bit of red in my recent Christmas quilt
From Hawthorne I got some thread – #12 weight the red is for the Christmas quilt and the green/red is for Alaska! I really think Alaska could be a Christmas quilt as well.
the top and bottom are on Alaska
The sides are now cut out too and sewn together and will go on the quilt top today. I turned the quilt on it’s side on the wall so I could take a photo to show what that will be like – I didn’t notice it was stuck crumpled up in the middle in the bottom until I looked on the computer – better photo to follow when done of course.

A new beautiful Iris’s – kind of a bronze color – I have several growing in this area of dense shade and over grown area but only one flower spike – after this is done flowering I need to dig these out and move to the area where the others are growing so much better in the sun and also get more of a color variety to plant – I do like Iris’s

That wool tote looks really nice and will be fun to embellish with colorful wool. I have a kit of wool ornaments to work on but I keep shifting it to the bottom of my pile. May get to them this summer when I can sit out on the back porch to applique. Your Alaska quilt is really looking good!
I love the borders you are sewing onto the Alaska quilt. The wool tote bag looks really nice. I have some packages of sewing goodies I am waiting for too. Some things arrive in a few days and others I have to wait a couple of weeks for.
I ordered some fabric from Spoonflower and it took about two weeks for it to ship, but it got here fast once it shipped. I guess the social distancing needs is slowing down a lot of the mail order right now. Love how Alaska is coming together! You’ve been moving along on both your piecing and your quilting.
something has happened to all my irises – I miss them Great progress on a wonderful quilt
Alaska is so pretty and I love the border.Lucky you to receive some of your orders. I’m waiting on one order that is 2 weeks old and it doesn’t include any fabric.
Who knew we’d ever be waiting on packages, and unable to go to a physical shop — all this is just so strange. My packages are arriving ok so far, but definitely taking more time. I agree, Alaska could easily be a Christmas quilt. Love the ribbon for the key fob, and I look forward to seeing what you create for your wool bag. What fun!
Happy mail is always exciting! The tote bag looks like something fun and different to work on. I’ve seen those Moda scrapbags in quilt shops – they are always so tempting! The Alaska borders are turning out wonderfully!
Alaska keeps looking better each day!
Hi Karen! That felt bag is pretty darn cool. It looks like it will be a fun project – you have some pretty wool pieces to embellish the bag with. Doesn’t it just figure that the deliveries you are waiting for still haven’t arrived? I am waiting too – something is finally supposed to come today. I almost forgot about it other than the project isn’t quite finished until the buttons are added. Thanks for linking up this week. That thread is just PERFECT for Alaska. ~smile~ Roseanne
Yay on getting some of the things you’ve ordered! I’m waiting on some yarn from Hobbii, but fortunately, I don’t need it any time soon. Last time (before Covid-19) I thought it was lost, and contacted them. They sent more and it came in a reasonable time frame. Then the other yarn finally showed up. I contacted them and told them they had better charge me for the extra yarn. They declined to do so. Very nice! But this time, I’m just going to be patient.
I agree, the Alaska quilt could also be used as a Christmas quilt.
Your bronze iris is so pretty.
I am waiting for orders to come to! Ran out of elastic
I agree packages are arriving slower…yesterday was the jack pot for me 5 packages! I drool everytime I see your Alaska quilt!
Alaska is looking great! Interesting wool projects, must admit I’ve never done anything with wool yet, although it seems very popular. I’ll be interested to see how it all comes together, presuming the embellishments are hand blanket stitched in place?
Oh that wool tote!! that looks scrumptious!!! I ordered threads from Superior and they said they were closed die to c19 and imagine my surprise when they arrived!!! It was a good day 😉 ha ha
I love that tote bag, the colour is perfect and will be a great background for your embellishments. I have a Wendy Williams book (I think that’s her name) and that’s a great book for wool felt inspiration! Alaska is looking lovely and those threads look good too.
A lovely box of wools and they should really add some interest to your bag. Glad to see your iris blooming. I have some that I put in last year and they bloomed then but so far not yet this year, hopeing they are a later blooming variety or maybe it’s too early. Time will tell!
Hi Karen. I just came across your blog today when I was looking at other posts linked up to Roseanne’s Weekly Progress Update linky party. I absolutely love your Alaska quilt and looked at several of your other posts on this amazing project. Will you be keeping this quilt for yourself? I look forward to seeing it finished. Take care, Mary.
Grampa B’s iris garden was wonderful, he hand pollinated to get new varieties. I miss him and his iris’s. Beautiful and productive post. Thank you for inspiring me.
