Quilted! Not that it is a race or anything but I keep track of my quilting time just for fun and this one is 60×70 and took 42 evenings of quilting for a final 67.5 hours. I have the binding machine stitched and will do the hand stitching off and on this week.
I laid it over the bed so you can see it (pattern is Country Charmer by Lynn at Sew’n Wild Oats)
I like to clip the binding on so that I have no seams in the corners that I would have to take care of as I am sewing – when I get to the binding I just want to get it on with no stops – I think the border quilting really shows up in this light – I just had the light coming in from the windows when I did this with no extra lights on.
The back – I will link to Slow Sunday Stitching with Kathy sometime today as I have a binding to stitch – which will be slow! linking also to Life in Pieces with Kate — Quilting is More Fun than Housework with Cynthia —
The pineapple quilt had more papers torn off and I am putting them in the storage box – more than half the papers are off of the blocks I have done but there are a lot more blocks to make.
This many left to rip papers off of and then I will get back to making more blocks
The hexie diamond I had been working on for two days was finished – hmm little blurry. Oh well you will see it again sometime when I lay them all out to look at again in another couple weeks I’m sure.
Next up is Alaska – I didn’t get around to getting it on the quilting frame yesterday so I had nothing to quilt last night – gasp! yes I skipped a night of quilting for almost the first time in 3 months I bet. I normally have a quilt ready to put on the frame but I hadn’t gotten my backing and batting cut to size and ready and I didn’t have floor space available – we ordered a treadmill – Nordic Track and wouldn’t you know you have to put it together! Mike was having fun (not) for two days taking up my floor space. We really do not have room for a treadmill in this small house but we are making room for it (not like we have company now) – our fitness center has been closed since March and with numbers on the rise in Arkansas and other states chances are it will not be open this year. It is hard walking on our land – the ground is uneven, there are roots of trees to watch for and constantly watch for new holes in the ground that little animals make and of course watch for snakes (I haven’t seen any this year) Anyway it is hard walking and my gait is uneven because of it and Mike doesn’t walk it like I do and has been getting horribly out of shape – it will be on one side of the living room for now – not ideal but being in shape is! This will work out with the heat of the Arkansas summer and those rainy days. It does fold up so sometime if we need the space it can fold and when we no longer wish to use it we can store it
I hope to get this quilt on the frame today and share it on Monday – it will take longer than 42 days LOL – it is about 100 x 100 if I remember right I would like it on the bed for the Christmas holidays – so 4.5 to 5 months? we will see if I can do it

The hand quilting on your Christmas quilt is gorgeous. I am looking forward to see how you will be quilting your Alaska quilt.
We have a dog so I am out a couple of times a day walking her but I miss my exercise routine. My daughter teaches yoga and I have been doing her class once a week through zoom but it is not the same as being in the studio.
Congratulations on finishing another beautiful quilt! I’m curious to see how you quilt Alaska.
We are heading up to the forest this morning before it gets hot and rains. It will be nice to get a little exercise outside of our little neighborhood. I don’t lead the forest walks anymore – don’t want a schedule and am also nervous about encountering bears. They’ve been sited all around, even downtown.
You must be delighted with having the Christmas quilting done – it looks great! I’m confident you’ll be able to have Alaska on your bed this Christmas. Will be fun to see how you quilt it. Treadmills do take up a lot of space, but they are handy to have. Will be walking on ours today because it is too hot to be outdoors.
Oh my, your Charming Country Christmas quilt beautiful. The hand quilting you have done is gorgeous. I have never counted how many hours it takes me to quilt each quilt; maybe I should as it would be interesting to know.
How exciting that you finished Country Christmas hand quilting AND sewed the binding strips together and are getting them on the quilt too! EXCELLENT!!!
I am excited Alaska will be on the frame soon… no rush. Your hexi diamond turned out great 🙂
Have a wonderful Sunday my friend… Kathi
Stunning quilt Karen. We have a treadmill for the winter months when we can’t get outside. With this virus, it’s imperative that folks over 55 stay fit to, hopefully, avoid the deadly complications if one does get sick. We have a three mile route in our rural neighborhood that we walk every day, roads and bike paths that have rare users. Stay well!
What beautiful texture on your Christmas quilt. You’re almost done now!! :o))
Congratulations on finishing the quilting on your Christmas quilt! It’s really beautiful! I’ll enjoy seeing you get going on quilting Alaska, too. Putting the treadmill together doesn’t sound like a very fun job – hope Mike is able to get that chore finished soon so you can have your floor back. Have fun stitching that binding – always my favorite part of making a quilt!
Oh Karen! Your Country Charmer is so gorgeous. I can’t believe how fast you hand quilt. It would have taken me a lifetime to complete it. Thank you so much for making my pattern. Can I post your pictures on my blog?
Congrats on finishing off the quilting for A Charming Country Christmas! That’s a lot of work, but if you enjoy it, it probably doesn’t seem like work. You had a very productive week of stitching. Your hexie project is going to be spectacular. Good luck with the exercise program. I need to figure something out too. Oklahoma cases are going up too, so even though the gyms are opening, I’m not sure that’s someplace I want to be. Especially since the numbers of people wearing masks here in the state is pretty dismal. Well at least it is here locally.
That texture is gorgeous!!! It will be much loved Christmas quilt. Looking forward to seeing how you plan to quilt Alaska.
Congrats on a pretty finish of the Christmas quilt! The border stitching does show well. In regards to a previous post, I am happy you rec’d the American Jane star quilt. I love her fabrics although I don’t have any in my stash – yet.
Wow! That came out fantastic and I just love all that wonderful quilting texture on the quilt. Good luck putting the treadmill together. Never fun to have to do that. I was bad and did not get up and walk again today… too hot now. Maybe a walk later tonight after it cools down to the upper 80’s? Happy stitching… your hexagons are lovely.
Your quilting shows up beautifully on CCC! I don’t like exercising in public gyms so I’ve always exercised at home. I alternate between an exercise app and a recumbent bike (with Netflix) and sometimes a long walk. It’s worked really well for me but I’m also very lucky to have an unfinished basement. It’s getting too hot and humid for the walks!
Beautiful Country Christmas Quilt!
I know what you mean about walking on wooded trails. Our driveway is long enough and paved, I can make several round trips. I just started driveway walking last week. Up to 6 loops this morning. We have seen more snakes this year than in last two years. Two were rattlers. So even walking on driveway, I am watching..seen a small turtle this morning, which is fine..
Love the little flower in your diamond.
Have a great day.
Your handquilting is beautiful and I love the quilting design you’ve done in the border…I’ve never seen that before!
Congratulations! Your quilt is lovely, and I’m sure Alaska will be also. Good luck with the treadmill.
Country Charmer is gorgeous, as are your other projects!
Hi,
Love your Christmas quilt..so pretty.
Have a great day!
I love the look of Country Christmas on the bed, the texture shows up fantastic!! I have confidence you will have Alaska done in time for Christmas.
Lovely, lovely quilt. I’m looking forward to seeing the quilting design on Alaska. I know what you mean about being out of shape. In our house, I’m the one who is too sedentary and I know it. We did take a walk at the park today, though, so maybe next time will be easier.
Yay!! The quilting is beautiful….don’t you love when the light is just right to capture it? I’ve just loaded a quilt on the longarm….somehow I think hand quilting is much more relaxing. Longarming, for me at least, is stressful. Good for you making health a priority!
Your Christmas quilt is stunning.
The Christmas quilt block really is one of my favourite and your quilting as always is beautiful. I’m impressed you’ve bought a treadmill! Your unimpressed husband made me smile. My friend bought an excercise bike at the start of lockdown (her dad is 96 so they don’t go out much to protect him) but her and hubby spent days trying to put the thing together!
Congratulations Karen on the lovely finish. I have moved out my stationary bike so I can get in it daily. Gotta stay in shape.
Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!
Beautiful Christmas quilt…..survivor972002@midco.net
A finish is always great. But wow. That is wonderful. You did an amazing job.
Country Charmer is a beauty and your quilting is just so beautiful, Karen. The finished look is worth the hours, I think. Meanwhile, kudos for getting a treadmill. It is vital to try to stay as fit as you can for as long as you can. That’s the way I look at it. More and more research shows how important it is for us older folks too.
The Christmas Charmer is so pretty, Karen – both in design and quilting! You got some really good shots of the quilting! The treadmill can be such a help when the outside weather doesn’t cooperate.
That will be great if you have 2 Christmas quilts done by December. They are both really pretty. Almost everything with red or pink in it is pretty.
It is gorgeous!! You did such lovely quilting. Hugs,
Finished quilt is looking good. Can’t say I enjoy the whole binding process.
What a lovely finish–just beautiful! Looking forward to seeing how you decide to quilt Alaska.
Oh your Christmas quilt turned out so pretty! You seemed to get it done really quick! I didn’t realize your pineapple quilt was paper pieced. Fortunately the pieces are large and the tearing out should go pretty good
Absolutely Beautiful.
Looks like you have your work cut out for you… er,.. pieced up for you!
