I have most of the stencil drawn all the way across the lower border of Alaska but not all – some was done in the corner on Sunday night so I could begin quilting and then more was traced out on Monday afternoon – still one corner to do but that is the area where I usually have to end up spritzing the lines out off and on until I get it right because the stencil rarely fits the area perfectly it seems.
Here is where I started in the left corner – the blue lines are not spritzed out of it yet as I hadn’t done all of the diagonal lines when I was taking the photo. Just enough to get started to start to get the feel for the quilt. I am not sure what I am doing in the red squares and green diamonds in the next border but the white area will have the diagonal lines.
You can see some of the diagonal lines here but the photo is darker
One Pineapple Block was done and all of the papers are out on the ones finished – I think I have 25 blocks finished now. Linking to To Do Tuesday —
A new diamond started – I was going to work it outside for a little bit but it proved to be too windy
One side of the Christmas quilt has the binding done.
The purple coneflowers have been attracting bees – there were three bees in one little area
If you don’t cut the grass and weeds in certain areas of the property we get these pretty wildflowers – I don’t know their name and didn’t think to get the plant ap open on the phone to check. You can see how dry the ground is – we have not had a significant rainfall in awhile and we were supposed to get “heavy rain” at times yesterday instead it rained lightly for about 15-30 minutes so lightly that nothing accumulated in the rain gauge – last night I actually had to put the water sprinkler out on the apple tree to berry bush area so I didn’t have to stand and water each individual plant

Hi, enjoy reading about how you make that quilting magic happen. I think you have a wild daisy there, perhaps the brown eyed one. I’m realizing how pretty the wildflowers are.
You are staying motivated with your projects this week.. that is great you are binding and photographing life too <3 And quilting already… I love those wildflowers that come up… we just get hay looking sprigs if we can't mow due to rain etc.
lol

Looks like you got a lot done yesterday! That big curvy design looks wonderful in the corner of Alaska, and you’re making progress on the quilting already! I love that pretty shade of green in your new diamond, too. I’m finding that I am really slow when paper piecing – I’m impressed that you can do a block in one session like that! We, too, have had some amazing days of rain, and then it gets dry again really fast. It would be nice to have more of a balance!
Off to a great start on quilt. Your pretty wildflowers are called Garden Coreopsis. Latin name Calliopsis meaning having beautiful eyes. Isn’t that neat.
Hope you get rain soon
Have a great day.
I’m not surprised that you are off and running on Alaska. I like the way that design swirls in the corner. Have no idea what those flowers are, but they are very cute. We had an almost full day of rain yesterday, with dark skies and thunder/lightning. Today the sun is shining, but it’s going to be a hot one. Like the colors in that diamond!
Your quilting on the Alaska quilt is off to a great start! Love the shades of green in your new hexie block. The coreopsis is so pretty!
You rock, getting it on the frame, and onto the quilting along with your other projects! We could share a little of the rain we have gotten, it’s not to much but, no flooding or anything. It is just that it seems to be often. But lots of heat and humidity today, a good day to sew.
Oh dear girl, can I send you some rain? Hard to believe its missing you guys. You normally get pounded on before us. So, the quilting begins. Still amazed. That green hexi diamond is going to be gorgeous. That merlot colored center is perfect and really makes the colors stand out. Take care.
Hi Karen! I think those flowers look like coreopsis flowers (or sometimes called tickseed). They are very draught hardy and come in a variety of yellow, orange, red and pink colors. I have a plain pale yellow in my garden and have tried to grow pink but it doesn’t seem as hardy for our harsh winters. Your quilting looks gorgeous in the corners – I can’t wait to see this all finished. Thanks for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne
Love how that stencil is looking on your quilt. Pretty wildflowers….. we are in need of rain as well but it is looking like that will be changing in the next few days for us.
Your quilting looks very nice.
Your border hand quilting is going to be amazing! Always an inspiration with your hand quilting.:) I don’t think I ever got back here to comment, but the hand quilting on the Christmas quilt turned out so lovely. Really added a lovely texture to your quilt finish.:)
I had planted purple cone flower bare roots this spring but I guess it was just too early for them to survive. I had hoped for a nice mass of them on my flowerbed. I will try again next year. Flowers, quilts and cats are my loves. I love the hand quilting!
