A Diamond Basted

Didn’t really do much yesterday but I did get a diamond for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds basted and partially started while visiting with Melanie on the porch – we missed the rain and it was supposed to rain all afternoon – that was ok though as Friday we had 1.5 inches of much needed rain.  I will most likely get some Slow Sunday Stitching in on this today.

Also I knitted a little more on the sweater sleeves – it only got up to 82 degrees so I didn’t find it too hot to knit – sometimes the heat makes it so I don’t want to touch it!! so often when I take a photo of the knitting it is out of focus – I wonder why that is – I didn’t bother to try again, sorry

Green Fairy has a couple new fabric bundles – both in the Moda Xmas line and the Deer Christmas by Urban Chiks is so cute – I don’t usually do cute but these deer are so cute.  The other new line is called Poinsettias and Pine.

I love your quilting. I like the fabrics in that diamond full of hexies.

I love the colors of the hexi you will be stitching today… I am enjoying seeing you stitch on the wide outer border on your quilt in the frame… enjoy your needle work too if it is too hot outside 🙂

Your hexie is a pretty one. I’m not sure I could knit even with the temp at 82! Are you taking photos with an iPhone?

Lovely colours in your EPP diamond! The border quilting on the Alaska quilt gives it a nice texture. We have not had any rain for 10 days…I have been watering the gardens to keep everything happy and blooming. I’m glad you are having cooler temps…you will need that warm sweater eventually!

Your new diamond is a pretty one! I like the orange center contrasting with the turquoise round. I don’t think I could knit in the summer much either! Glad you had a cooler day and some rain and a visit with Melanie. Enjoy your stitching today, Karen!

Love how you did the corner! We got the rain that missed you…. all afternoon off and on t-storms. Glad you got some visiting in yesterday.

Your quilting on the border is quite lovely, great choice. We were missed by the rain too but it has been really hot and humid for Texas. More chances for rain this week hope we get a little of it.

You are moving along on several projects. The quilting on Alaska looks great. I always struggle contemplating Christmas fabric in July, but that set is pretty cute.

Lovely projects and quilting you have going!

The wavy quilting on Alaska is one of my favourite designs. I can’t knit or crochet when it’s very hot, my hands just get too sticky. I think 82 degrees might be too hot for me!

Nice that it was a little cooler yesterday so you could work on the knitting. Your new hexie is pretty. I got an elephant appliquéd last night. Just have to do his ears and tail now. And I did crochet a bit.

The hand quilting is just lovely.

I’m really enjoying your color combinations for the hexie blocks! Isn’t it interesting how the weather influences hand-making preferences?

Like several others have commented, I also like the color combination on your latest diamond! I think this may be my favorite so far!!
I am going to be pulling out my knitting needles soon as well. When my husband and I were married in 1972, he had a Christmas stocking that had been made for him when he was a toddler, by a long time family friend. I found a pattern that I improvised, to knit one for me, to match. Then I knitted additional ones for his sister and her husband, and then for our two nephews and niece. When our niece was married, I made one for her husband….well, now we have a great nephew, born last Monday, so I will be knitting one for him! So I will start on that one day next week.
Today was another hot and humid day, so it was a day to stay in and work on some hand piecing with lemonade nearby! I am ready for fall!!

Lovely projects all! I am so anxious to see all your Lucy blocks together, they are wonderful! I haven’t done any knitting or crocheting in recent years, unless you count a rug I made from skinny uneven strips of fabric. My hands can’t do it for long!
