A Little More On Alaska

No two hour sessions lately quilting on Alaska – just a little here and there in the evening – last night though it had been a rainy day and the bugs were out so I wasn’t outside and sat a bit longer quilting. This quilting that I show was from Tuesday night.  The quilting is progressing little at a time.  While I am quilting right now seeing as I finished the series I had been binge watching I found a movie to watch while I walk on the treadmill and while I quilt – it is called “Wish You Well” and it is based on a book by David Baldacci who I read a lot – this is one of his stand alone books (2001)and takes place in 1930’s era Virginia – or maybe it is West Virginia I didn’t catch it.  I had not read the book which is good because a lot of the times the movie disappoints if you read the book first and then watch the movie – the movie rarely holds up to the same standards as the book I feel.  In recent years I find I like his stand alone books better than series.  Ellen Burnstyn stars in it I think I spelled her name right – I haven’t seen her in things recently I’m not even sure how old she is now but a star in years past.

One last whole diamond for Lucy in the Sky in the With Diamonds and then I will start to fill in the sides with the half pieces.  I think this quilt will stay on the wall for awhile so I can fill in the bits and place color how I want them.

I finished all the cutting work for Melanie for the volunteer stuff at the library and she dropped by quickly to pick it up yesterday – just a short quick visit.  She will let me know if anything else needs doing but I doubt it will be more than once a week or so to help with some sort of craft.

Linking to Creative Compulsions today where Michelle featured my Morning Glory quilt – thanks Michelle

We had temps only near 80 yesterday with rain – a full inch of it and more was expected off and on for the week – it will be nice if the temperatures stay down – I was outside on the porch for an hour or two yesterday morning and it was nice before the rain came.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Shiatsu Foot Massager?  I’m thinking of getting one and would like to know if there is anyone using one and how you like it – what brand?

The last Lucy block! Will be fun to see the quilt take shape. I don’t think I’ve read many of the Baldacci books, but the ones I have read I’ve enjoyed.

Your hand quilting is impressive! My favorite Baldacci is The Christmas Train and I think the movie version is one of the few that’s as good, or better, than the book.

I love the red and pink combination in Alaska – so pretty! And now I see it in your Lucy block, too. You could send some of that rain this way – we sure need it! Hot and dry here. Even when it clouds up in the afternoon, we seem to be getting a windstorm each day that blows everything on by us.

I’m not overly fond of series books either. I think I’ve read some David Baldacci. It’s been awhile since I’ve read any fiction. Your quilting is looking lovely. Great new hexie block too.

Love the way you are quilting these blocks, Karen. Gorgeous as always. You do keep very busy with the stitching and knitting too. And how good you are to volunteer time for those library projects.

Very productive for not working on it much! Lucy looks great in red and always love seeing Alaska.
I have yet to sew today… lots of outside work instead.

Love those reds in your diamond block. All progress is good, so if it goes slowly that’s OK. Plenty of time when it’s too cold to enjoy the outdoors.
