Another Day of the Same Stuff

Yes not much changes in my life these days – quilting, sewing, applique, kitchen, garden, reading & 2 or 3 fast walks on the treadmill – trying for 60-90 minutes total a day – just finished the newest of the Joe Pickett series “Long Range”  – I think it was number 20 – another ear got twisted off by Nate and the evil Mother in Law showed up briefly to torment  Joe – well he never be rid of Missy!! (there is already another schedule release is March 2021)

So I got some granola made to last me the next 2 weeks or there about once again – even though it was hot the oven needs to be on now and then – thank heavens for A/C.

One diamond started while Melanie was visiting but not finished.  She got some oregano and rosemary from the garden as well as a couple cucumbers and tomatoes.  I will have more ready in a couple days so it was ok with me.  I was going to take a photo of the basket full that she took home and forgot.  Linking to Cooking up Quilts — Small Quilts and Doll Quilts —

Still working on the 3rd side of Morning Glory – I didn’t work long on it yesterday

I think in the summer evenings I do not sit as long quilting as I do in the cooler months – I like to get outside in the evening and enjoy the porch after dark – when the sun is not blazing down is a good time to sit out there and chat with my sister or just enjoy the quite – a little more work done on Alaska from Saturday night – I had intended to quilt tot the end of the border – but I only did 30 minutes and said forget about it and took my kindle out to read on the porch at 9

I have more pieces of fabric in the wash for a pre-wash – and pre-shrink!  I probably won’t get a lot of quilt sewing done this week – there is a second wave of requests for face masks – my granddaughter asked for some and I will get more done for my daughter and son in law to mail off quickly as well.  I don’t know if I mentioned that my Wisconsin daughter Jessica and her family are moving to California at the end of the month – a change of jobs for our son in law – not a great time for a move but sometimes you go where the job is.  I need to whip up more masks quickly to send off – when I get done with those I will have heard back from Aniya’s mom on how many they need and if the ones I made them fit ok and see what they need.  Busy Busy!

I’m on my second round of mask making, too. Mom is getting out and about more and want to make sure she’s covered. My Wis. brother is hoping to get back on school bus duty soon, so will wear one all day. I’m having Mom try t-shirt ear pieces rather than elastic. She’ll enjoy being my guinea pig. Not much happening here, either – just a little here and there on various projects. It’s too hot to knit!

There is nothing like homemade granola. Yes, thank goodness for AC. California is a pretty state with so much to do and see. I need to make masks also.

Sitting out on our deck right now enjoying the cool morning while sipping coffee and reading blogs! You’re working on a pretty pink diamond this time. I’m not sure I’ve read any of the Joe Pickett books – maybe one. I need a new book series to get into! Our library opened back up, so I’ve been able to get books I’ve had on hold recently, so plenty to read. Where in California are Jessica and family moving to?

I can’t imagine hand quilting during the summer. Way too hot even in with ac. None of my kids have asked for more masks. Hubby and I have plenty although we don’t go out all that often. I’m happy for Zoom as I get together with 2 buddies who usually go to a stitching group each Monday and every other week with a group of friends who belong to a guild in MD. I’m guessing we’ll continue that once things start easing up as by then we’ll live in 3 states.

You are busy, and still sneaking in walks! You go! That’s a big move for them; I hope it all goes well. I’m still amazed at how perfect that blue border is for Morning Glory!

Ooooh I love the fussy cut center of that block! Thanks for reminding me that I need to get back to Joe Pickett. I think I may be a few books behind you.

Sounds like a relaxing summer, bits of sewing, walking, reading, visiting, cooking. All of those are my ideas of fun. I like granola so much but have a difficult time eating it sometimes – my teeth are sensitive and don’t care for the crunch. But wow, it looks yummy!

I LOVE the Joe Pickett books too, must see if our library has the latest ones in stock. And like you, I’ve just done a batch of breakfast cereal too, so much nicer than the commercial ones and with zero sugar! Your projects are ticking along well. I’ve been doing some mending this week, not nearly as interesting

It’s funny how we chastise ourselves for not get more work done on our “hobbies.” LOL! It’s important to take these moments to enjoy, like your porch after dark. Do you see lightning bugs? Or is it already too late for them? Love the fussy cut flower in the middle of your new hexie!

I’m not sure I ever finished with the mask making, I seem to dribble them with all my sewing these days. I’ll have to check out the Joe Pickett series, I’m always on the lookout for a good long term series. You’ve been making good steady progress on your projects. Sometimes it is hard to remember it’s not a race.
