It Was a Mask and Garden Day

Well not really that much of a garden day other than cutting some oregano first thing in the morning before it got to a very high 96 degrees again! and more tomatoes – I had to add more ties to the plants they are getting so tall and and were starting to bend over – I don’t want them stems to break.  Three racks of oregano to dry overnight and ready for me this morning to store

Added more tomatoes to the bow – I need 8 cups of crushed tomatoes for a batch of marina sauce – more should be ready to pick over the next couple days so I hope all of these will be good still – I think they will.

Three are now about 3 feet over the top of the cages!!

These six are near the top of their cages – maybe they will be ok for awhile.

8 masks done – 4 for Jessica and 4 for Ciera – Shane’s will be finished today – 4 for him as well – I have them part way done so won’t take long today to get that finished and out in the mail.  Just the top stitching left to do and fold the sides in to stitch for make the casings for the loops.  Today linking to To-Do-Tuesday and I will be making more masks

finished to the edge on Alaska on this length and it was ready to roll down last night and get started again.

Deer visiting on the edge of the woods – 5 of them including a young buck and two fawns

the antlers were very small on this guy – normally I do not see a buck with the female and young down in the woods – I was lucky to spot them this morning – I had just finished cutting grass before getting the oregano and coming back in the house and there they were – couldn’t get good photos it is a distance from the house and very much in shade

Your tomatoes are producing (and growing) like crazy! Homemade marinara sauce sounds delicious. It’s definitely a great idea for your daughter and family to have multiple masks for their cross-country drive. Loved your photos of the deer, too! What a fun surprise to see them!

Hope the deer don’t find your tomatoes
    He is pretty.
    Have a good day

Loved your post, homemade masks, homemade marinara and those beautiful deer. Reading this is a nice way to start my day.

You are going to be busy with tomatoes for awhile! Ours never grew well in pots, so we gave up. I think they were too much in the sun on the deck. Nice that you can dry your own herbs too. The mask making is looking good; fun fabrics. And of course, I’m enjoying seeing your progress on Alaska.

I’m envious of the produce. Sigh…. I just can’t grown things down here in Florida. I think I should move north! Love the deer visiting photo. So much progress on Alaska…. that will be done in no time at all.

Hi! Do you “quilt” your masks–there seem to be little stitches? I like your fabrics.
Odd question I know—will it hurt the soil to have garlic powder/parsley applied to it? A few sprinkles every few days seems to work. It’s the only way to keep the neighborhood cats away : ) ? I’m not trying to be cruel, just practical. Cleaning up that much cat poop is hard. Just grass grows in the particular spot. Otherwise, there is just the experimental herbs, chosen again, to keep the kitties away: green onion, chives, oregano. Thanks and be well.

Hi Karen! Lovely photos of the deer – the last one made me gasp! And your tomatoes make my mouth water. I didn’t get any planted this year and I could just kick myself. Alaska is really coming along – I wish I could visit, too, just hearing the name. Pretty masks! Thanks so much for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

The quilting on your Alaska is looking marvelous! Always wonderful to see progress.:) It’s great to have the fresh vegetables starting to come off. Our daughters garden definitely makes me happy.

We seem to be doing some of the same things. I have 23 tomato plants and I can’t seem to keep up with pruning and tying them up, esp in the heat–who wants to work in it? But, I just made the first marinara of the season last week and it was so yummy that it makes it all worth it!
I made another 15 masks last week and today I worked on herbs. Lots of work, all of it, but it’s rewarding.
    Your quilting is beautiful!

Your tomatoes look awesome! Nothing tastier than a homegrown tomato! The oregano looks good too. Good going on the masks. I know your daughter and her family will appreciate them.
