Lazy Hot Days of Summer

Sometimes at this time of year for some reason I loose my interest in working all day on sewing and get into reading moods, outside garden stuff etc.  yesterday was another partly rainy day and hot until the rains came.  We had went to Lowe’s early in the morning and picked up bags of soil then went to Wal-Mart to get some grocery’s without being out on the busy 4th of July weekend – home saw me transplanting the small tomatoes into larger pots, exercise on the treadmill (2 times) and reading.

I did manage to finish the diamond I had been working on for 3 days

And now have 2 sides of the binding done on the Christmas quilt – I am in no rush on this quilt as it will not be used until – you guessed it – Christmas – two more sides to do – linking to Quilting Patchwork Applique —

This much left to do on the border – maybe I will have it done by Monday and ready to roll down – so far this summer I am still quilting in the evening.

Summer heat outside and cold air conditioning inside makes it hard for me to settle any one place for very long in the summer. I get cold easily but my honey sweats easy! lol We are a great pair besides THAT! So I stay in my sewing room a LOT and he stays in the coolest room in the house in the afternoon… I have started watching the Waltons series and enjoying that. I love your border design you are quilting on Alaska and I hope you are enjoying your books… the binding will be done soon 🙂 Have a great 4th in Arkansas Karen! Kathi

Ah! Your diamond reminds me of a refreshing day of Spring.
I also don’t do good in heat and inside grabbing my zip up sweatshirt.
Husband is watching first tomato. Should be ripe for his birthday Tues.
I am on last block or should say ring of Double Wedding Ring. Trying, hoping to have it done without binding, for our 49 anniversary..the 10th..I was working on some patriotic pin cushions. They were fun. Now I will get back to focusing on DWR.
    Have a great day!

I just finished listening to Simon the Fiddler by Paulette Jiles and really enjoyed it. Do you have any suggestions? I get audio books from the library and listen to those while reading. Also a good mystery is The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens.
It’s getting hot here in Michigan too, lots of humidity means we have to get our walk in before 9am. happy 4th to you and your hubby

Getting the errands done yesterday so you don’t have to go anywhere today sounds like a good plan to me! We did the same thing! I really like that green diamond, and working on binding is always a great part of the process, too. Hope you have a fun 4th, even if a quiet one like ours will be!

For us, summer is time to relax, be outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and flowers. There is enough time during our long winter months to be sewing and sewing. I wouldn’t feel too badly about not wanting to be sewing right now. You were wise to get the errands done before the busy weekend. We are staying in (very hot here) and enjoying having our two kids home for the weekend. Happy 4th, Karen!

Summer is definitely a time for relaxing. Looks like you have lots of great works in progress to keep you entertained. The Christmas quilt is my favorite.

It’s turned chilly and very windy in the UK. So lots of sewing done this afternoon which has been very enjoyable. Happy 4th July to you and yours.

I love the feathered braid on the quilt border. Happy 4th!

My creative mojo is running in neutral also. I did do some crocheting last night. I won’t tonight though, because it riles up my shoulder if I do consecutive evenings. I’ll go back to work on my second to last elephant.

Love the diamond and especially the colors!
You are far north of us and in a nice path for rain and storms – I am jealous!

Sewing room time seems to change with the seasons for me as well. Sounds like you got a bit done outside and inside this week.
