Morning Glory–The Last Step

Finally Morning Glory is off of the table and in my sewing area.  I am ready for that final applique of stitching the blue strip all around the sides for the finish touch.  I laid it on the floor after the glue dried for a photo – forgive the messy table in the photo – I totally didn’t look at that or I would have cleaned it up at least a tiny bit – needless to say that is all of Mike’s stuff sitting there not mine!

Never have  I gotten a hold of a bad bottle of glue from Roxanne – well the glue is ok but the nozzle wasn’t.  I haven’t a clue where I got it as the new bottle and nozzle were in separate bags and had been ordered months ago and were in my stash of supplies – the nozzle is always separate and there is a screw cap on the bottle – the problem was the nozzle – although brand new never used? was clogged – so clogged that even after soaking it for three days I could not unclog it and ending up using a small paintbrush to get my glue dots in place which of course ended up being more than I usually use.  If I had remembered where I got it and had checked it right away I could have asked for a replacement but I know it has been in my box of stash supplies for over six months – I tend to buy things I use a lot – glue, needles, leather stick on thimbles etc when they are on sale whether I need them or not.

A little more quilting on Alaska – I’m not quite sure what I am doing with the main design – I thought I did and started to draw some lines out yesterday but didn’t like how it went and spritzed the lines out and started over last night

Part of what I am doing – well there be changes? I’m not sure but you can see on here how I want the design to stand out.  Linking to Quilt Fabrication —

Adding those strips to frame the center was a very elegant solution to the visual balance issue for Morning Glory. Congrats on all the progress.

Morning Glory looks wonderful! The blue strip adds just right amount of color to the large neutral border. Frustrating about the nozzle for the glue bottle! Maybe there is a defect in it – not clogged, but made wrong? There’s a lot going on in the main section of Alaska – I imagine figuring out the quilting design would be tricky! Looking forward to seeing what you decide!

Morning Glory is such a pretty quilt. I like the addition of the blue borders. Will be fun to see how you progress with Alaska – it’s looking good so far!

Love the way you have added strips to Morning Glory 🙂 I don’t use my glue that often so I was always having trouble with the nozzles – I find the squeeze bottle much better, I was going to send you a link but it’s all the UK shops that come up – search for Roxanne Glue-Baste-It EZ-Squeezie Bottle

Love the Morning Glory, I am partial to the bunnies.
I like how you have quilting radiating like from jewels..
All I can say about the table..you ought to see OUR table!
    Have a great day.

I actually think I like this version of Morning Gory better than if you had put more appliqué in the corners. These straight ribbons of fabric create such a nice contrast to the appliqué, so that the appliqué really stands out. Beautiful!

You know what? I’d machine applique or stitch those blue strips. Of course, the applique would go quicker than normal since its all straight line, but still. I do like the way the lines work with the quilt.

Suchva clever solution to put the blue strip around the sides of Morning Glory. It is going to look wonderful, in fact, it does already! I’ve never used glue like that, in fact, I seldom use it at all. But it worked for you, after you unclogged the nozzle.

I don’t remembered what the original design for morning glory was but the simplicity of the borders is beautiful and definitely makes the medalion/applique become the star.

Lovely progress, no matter how slow you may complain that you are going, is still progress. Beautiful too!
