More work on Alaska and I got six blocks cut out for the pineapple quilt. The quilting shows up so much more on the green diamond then on the red square.
Now to make myself do some machine sewing this week – I really haven’t felt much like it this week. The binding is almost done on the Christmas quilt but I forgot to take a photo – I will after I wash it.
It has been too hot to sit outside much but the plants are growing. Linking to Wednesday Wait Loss — Creative Compulsions —

Dear Karen,
With all the humity and extreme heat, outside is too hot, so indoors it is. Sewing in front of the sewing machine is left for cooler pockets of the day. Your Alaska quilt is looking amazing. As for the plants, yes they are enjoying every moment of the warm weather in the garden. Planted seeds in the trays in the garage on Monday evening, transplanted three seedlings into slightly bigger pots yesterday. The heat makes things happen a lot faster. Hope to have some veggie garden fun this summer.
Your quilt reminds me a stargazer lily garden.so beautiful.
Wished I had railing around my porch, wouldn’t have taken a fall off porch. Plants love the heat but not me
Have a good one
The flower design looks like it fits the diamond pieces perfectly – looks really pretty in your photo! Are you working on another pineapple block? Do they have you cut the pieces for each round to a certain size? I definitely waste fabric when I’m paper-piecing because I have a hard time predicting how big the piece needs to be with added seam allowance. Do the pineapple papers make that easier? Stay cool!
The green diamonds look so sharp! Good choice of stencil. It’s hot and humid here too. This kind of weather sucks all the energy out of me.
I will try to walk and do a bit of yard work this morning but will be heading to the sewing room this afternoon. I’m working on Bonnie Hunter’s Moth in the Window which i started in a class with her last summer. I’m getting close to making all the blocks I need.
It’s been so hot here, I didn’t even step a toe outside yesterday. Sometimes it’s good to just take a break from something while you are working on other things. Your quilting is coming along nicely; I like that design in the diamonds. That view from your porch is a pretty one – what a beautiful fern!
I love your outside hanging plants. My mother always had ferns so I especially like them.
Alaska is coming along nicely and your hanging plants are gorgeous! I can almost feel that summer breeze blowing through the photo! 🙂
Doing anything much outside is a chore these days. We walk early and then spend the restof the day inside pretty much. Wouldn’t be bad if it wasn’t humid, in fact would be wonderful. I like that effect in the green border blocks. I wondered when you showed us the stencil but then I should know you’d make the right choice.
Beautiful quilting, Karen! Your porch looks lovely!
I just love the colors in your Alaska. Is it too soon to wish cold weather back? LOL
Oh boy it’s been hot and humid here, the past couple weeks the A has been on non stop. But it cooled down with the rain this morning, 68 deg.! Maybe the humidity has affected us all as I too am just not in the mood to sew gangbusters like ususal.
Your porch looks nice and cool, is it still too hot to sit out there with the hot temps and the humidity you are experiencing? All you projects are coming along well.
?
Love your quilting, and you porch!
I love the quilting motif for the diamonds. It’s too hot here too but I still had to stack wood for 2 hours this morning. It was miserable!
It has been hot and humid. The pop up thunderstorms help cool it down for a few hours. It is hard to stitch when it’s so warm, unless your sewing room is pretty cool.
I hope you get your sewing mojo back soon! In the meantime you are doing lovely quilting on Alaska. It’s going to be so beautiful! Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
