Quilting, Piecing, Applique

A little of three projects done yesterday – it was hot and humid so again more time spent inside then outside – I was out a little bit to water plants and pick tomatoes – only a few more will be in a couple days – I gave the few to Melanie today and will keep the next ones for us.

A little hard to get the quilting to show much on the red in a photo

And the paper was ripped off

One short side of the blue strip applique on Morning Glory was done – the next two are longer so will take longer to do.

I use a short kind of whip stitch for my applique – I try to hide the stitch but it is not a blind stitch – I always use thread that matches as close to possible so the tiny stitches are rarely noticeable.

Much was accomplished in your sewing room yesterday. Those borders on morning glory are so pretty.

Do the pineapple blocks go together pretty quickly? When I made the one paper-pieced purple block, it felt like it took forever, because one block had 13 sections! It would be nice to make a whole block on one piece of paper! Love the pretty blue fabric you’re using for the border strip on Morning Glory!

You manage to get something done on so many projects each day. Do you work on one, take a break, then work on another? That blue fabric for the border is lovely!

Beautiful fabric on morning glory. Was this a kit. Neat hand work.
Our tomatoes are coming in, to have one everyday Dennis is picking green beans this morning. Good your daughter likes tomatoes. No one else in our family will eat them. We just say don’t know what your missing!
    Have a good one

Karen, that’s the way I do mine too and I use 100 weight silk thread most of the time.

Your appliqué stitches are completely unnoticeable. I like mine to show, but what I’ve discovered on doing the elephants is that my stitch length and slant varies from day to day.

It’s definitely too hot to be out and about. Your applique stitches aren’t visible at all. You’ve made good progress on Morning Glory. It will be a finish before much longer.
