RSC2020

One more block added to the wall and the second of my blocks for Country Charmer should be done today.  Each block takes about an hour or so to make if I stick with it and not hopping around doing other things – these blocks finish at 8.5 inches I only need 20 for this quilt – but I might make this a larger quilt and continue on through next year with it doing the colors that are called for all over again.   As I mentioned yesterday I really didn’t feel like doing the dark blue blocks called for so I am making red this month instead.

The second block is cut out and ready to sew.  I will be linking to SoScrappy today

Other than doing the above I was working on from scrap Marina Sauce – recipe on the link at the top right side of the blog under recipes – I keep forgetting to add more recipes to it.  I didn’t have enough ripe tomatoes of my own so needed to add some canned tomatoes to get the 8 cups of crushed that the recipe calls for.  I ended with 3 full pints in the smaller canner and part of another that I will use for something in the next couple of days.  This was right after I had taken the jars out and those that know canning will see some of the jars have not sealed yet – they eventually did.  I have no more ripe tomatoes now and will need to wait a couple days before there is more – we had 2 days or off and on rain and clouds and they didn’t ripe fast like they had been doing – but lots of green ones.

Other than the little I showed above I spent Friday reading a book – Western Women by Sandra Dallas on loan from the library to my kindle  – I don’t think I have ever read one of her books and so far I like it.  Circa 1850’s wagon train of women heading to California to find husbands.

Because I love Colorado, Sandra Dallas is one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend The Persian Pickle Club, Prayers for Sale, and Tallgrass, but I loved all of her books except the Chili Queen.

I’m putting my RSC20 quilt together today (it’s 60″ x 72″ now) and will set it aside until I can get some backing fabric. Maybe I’ll start a new RSC quilt in August. I am never at a loss for scraps!

Your RSC blocks look so pretty on the design wall. I haven’t done any canning in years, but those 4 jars look tasty! I’ve read some Sandra Dallas books, and liked them.

Your Country Charmer blocks are fun to see up on the wall! I’m looking forward to adding red to my projects, too. I’ve read a lot of Sandra Dallas’ books and liked most of them, especially her earlier books that Marianne mentioned. I haven’t read her latest, so will have to add that one to the list. Your sauce looks yummy! We finally got the first tomato from our one plant – looking forward to slicing it up for dinner tonight.

Love your Country Charmer blocks! I took this year off the RSC challenge to focus on finishes, but I miss playing with the different colors each month.

Love the sounds of the jars popping when they seal! I’ll have to check out that author – always looking for new authors to read. The red blocks sure add some nice contrast to the other blocks.

Your blocks for the RSC20 look great together! I didn’t realise you had a recipe tab, I shall have to try some of those breads. I will look at Sandra Dallas on our digital library.

Your Country Charmer blocks are beautiful! I like the lay out diagram too. Did you make that or was it included with the pattern? It’s a great idea!
Thanks for the link to the marinara sauce recipe. I haven’t canned in ages. All the utensils are gone. I might make a batch and freeze it though. I think that would work,
    Have a good week!

I’ve finally found a little time to read a few blogs — these blocks are wonderful! I love all the pieces and it’s so colorful!

I loved her book, The Persian Pickle Club, set in the 1930’s. I imagine she did another great job story telling in this other book as well. Will have to see some day when I can get to a bookstore again.
