What a Lazy Day

Do you have those days where you look back at your day and think “what did I do?”  I was thinking of what to sit down and do a blog post on and had to look at my phone to see what photos I took – off and on during the day I click away and then in the evening sit down and do a post.

Well I made one more pineapple block – exactly the same as the day before and I have two more of them cut out before I select a new fabric to cut out another stack of pieces

I printed out a couple photos of the pattern Alaska to look at and decide how to quilt the main design and nothing has come to me yet.  I will quilt the red stars in outline and then maybe echo – but not sure on the rest – the green that goes around the center should be outlined too – hmm – well need to continue thinking on that as I get closer to it.  Linking to Creative Compulsions —

Because of the color it is hard to capture the quilting on the Alaska border – I will need to look in the morning and see what kind of light is coming in and hitting the frame just right sometimes that is the best time

And the best news – our grandson and the troop set foot back on Oklahoma soil this week – quarantined for now.  His 6-9 month deployment was extended to a year thanks to Covid-19!!  But he is well and that is what counts.

Thanks to the treadmill we now own I have managed to get 10,000 steps every day this week!!  Handy being right there.

Glad your grandson is out of harm’s way and healthy, too. I don’t know how you endure the boredom of walking on the treadmill, but good for you! I am a sloth!

What a relief, he is back home. Quarantine is a piece of cake compared to the extended time away from home. Just knowing he is back is the best part. Your tomatoes looks amazing. On hot days we always have to wonder where did the time go, as sometimes we Just want to relax.

Some days are just slower days, where you are thinking and processing, but that is progress too, just not necessarily visible progress. How wonderful that your grandson is back home; please thank him for his service to our country. And 10,000 steps each day this week – yay for you! We have been lazy daisies here, not walking outside (too hot) and avoiding the treadmill.

Glad your grandson is back, soon to be home. We thank him for his service.
I have days like that. I try to make a list of what I want to do and still something always slides away..
Have not walked in. 3 days, my little toe still ” ows” with shoes on. After wrapping it around a ladder back chair leg. Your tomatoes sure look yummy!
That is such a beautiful quilt. I am almost persuaded to do one.
    Have a great day

Oh good for you on the 10000 steps each day – that’s great! I’m glad the treadmill is working for you. That’s a big accomplishment even if it feels like you didn’t do much else yesterday. Good news for your family about your grandson, too! I’d also say making another pineapple block and figuring out how you want to quilt Alaska are important, too!

Oh, I am so glad your grandson is back on American soil! I’m sure he’ll be happy to quarantine for a couple of weeks. It will also give him time to start to readjust to being away from the zone. Yep, I have lot of days when I look back and can find nothing outstanding that I’ve done. Oh, well.

Good news about your grandson! 10,000 steps is excellent, which means it’s paying its way already! Just got to keep it up.

So glad your grandson is back in the States! Lately, I have had the feeling that I’m accomplishing far less than I intended.

  • exuberantcolor/Wanda Hanson Jul 2, 2020 @ 11:31

I have too many of those days where I wonder what I did all day.

Happy news that your grandson is back in the states. Now I hope the quarantine is good and that he doesn’t catch it over here.

The soldiers are doing the elbow bump! I love that. And you go girl! on that treadmill. If your list of the day means laziness, then I’m in trouble.

  • Deb A Jul 2, 2020 @ 14:43

Yea – on reaching the step goals and so happy your grandson is back in the states. Another pineapple block and progress on quilting…you are still getting things done.

  • Jenny Benton Jul 2, 2020 @ 16:12

Your grandson back home safe and sound, wonderful news. Such a relief for the whole family, I’m sure.

So glad your grandson is back stateside and that he is safe! Thank him for his service…
I have days like that, when I am not sure what I accomplished at day’s end, but we still make progress even though it is not immediately apparent! Seems like those days happen more frequently, for me, anyway, during extremes in the weather….
Love how you are quilting Alaska…looking forward to following along as the quilting progresses!

Please tell your grandson “Thank you for his Service”. I come from a long line of military service members. Hugs,

Glad your grandson is back and doing well. Oklahoma isn’t going down on cases, but at least we aren’t going up as fast as some states are. You are moving along on the Alaska quilting. Hope you get more stitching time this week. Congrats on all the steps too. that’s a great milestone to reach.

Welcome home troop! Those long deployments are the pits! My son’s to Iraq in 2007 was also a 12 month – he was with the HQ company 2nd Mar Div and the headquarters’ Marines came early and stayed late for continuity of command.

I’m sure you are relieved to have him home. When you get to see him, give him our love – from one military family to another.
