I know I said I was going to crochet this new short sleeve T-Shirt sweater but then I undid it all and decided to knit it instead – I need more practice and seeing as the yarn was on a really good sale it won’t be much of a waste if it doesn’t turn out. This one is 100% cotton yarn, it says to use 3.50 needles to start for the ribbing and then switch to 3.75 after you get six rows in so that is what I will be trying to do. Wish me luck!
I finished an audio book outside in the afternoon before Melanie came over to visit and eat pie (which by the way was very good) and worked on the hexies – part way done with the row attaching I will be working on this off and on all week. The audio book was by JD Robb – number 50 (has it been that many?) in the series with Eve Dallas – I had tried the first of those books on audio but couldn’t get into it as the narrators voice put me off – but I guess she grew into it and it was ok for this one – I will try some of the others if the library has them – I like the series – I have read them all but some quite a long time ago. The hexies are coming along
Alaska from Saturday night – half way done – 2 months – I was thinking 4-5 months of quilting and I’m on track – should be done by the end of October I think.

I didn’t know knitting needles came in half or three-quarter sizes. I’ve only seen them in whole sizes and the sweater I’m knitting uses #4s. I started knitting the pockets on my brown sweater yesterday – on four needles. The pattern calls for the “magic loop” system but I have no experience with that, so just used what I know. Made plenty of mittens over the years on four needles (including 9 during jury duty years ago!).
You’ve been moving along on multiple fronts. Good luck with the new approach to the sweater. You must hand stitch really quickly. I’ve not worked on my hexie project in a while, but it used to take forever to finish one block! You move along with those long seams. I’m hooked on the Eve Dallas series too. Next one in the series comes out early next month.
I was going to say just what Kathy said – I love that JD Robb series, and have read all of them. Can’t wait for the next book to come out next week! Where do you find the audiobooks? My library doesn’t seem to carry them anymore. Have fun with your purple sweater! Getting more knitting practice is always a good idea. Glad you enjoyed your visit with Melanie and pie!
I’ve never heard of that size of knitting needles, and I think switching needles mid-project is interesting too – I’ve never done that, but then I’ve not done much knitting. Will be fun to see your progress. Okay, I haven’t read any JD Robb; my brother gave me one, but I couldn’t get into it. Maybe I’ll have to find this series and start from the beginning.
I have all the J.D. Robb book up until I started listening to them as audio books. Love them while I do hand work or weeding .
I’ve been listening to Rita Mae Brown on RB Digital through my library. I’ll have to look for the JD Robb. I love Nora Roberts books =) Lucy is coming along nicely. I have never heard of those knitting needle sizes – but have seen patterns when they start small for the ribbing and then change up. Good luck.
That purple yarn is going to be lovely either knitted or crocheted! You’re making great progress on Alaska, and the hexies.
Glad you enjoyed the jd Robb book. I have the whole series and when I want something light to read I go through them again. I’ve never heard of 3/4 size knitting needles. That must be something new. I have some 1/2 size ones I use for socks ( on the rare occasions that I knot socks). I’m loving your hexie quilt and you certainly are moving along quickly on putting it together.
Wow great progress on Alaska ! That purple yarn is pretty and I am glad you are going to try knitting it! Not sure why except I’m a knitter not a crochet person HE HE
I’ve been doing a lot of knitting lately. Scarves/shawls that take one skein if fingering/sock yarn. Good luck on the sweater. My gauge always ends up way off. I k tired a sweater years ago that I could have worn with at least 2 more people. I took it all apart and will make it over – someday. Not that there’s a lot of need for a wool pullover in Texas.
That purple yarn is so beautiful! You always have such lovely hand stitching projects going on!
