yesterday we managed to avoid most of the storm – the hurricane came into Arkansas as a Tropical Storm with tropical force winds in the southern part of the state but it started to curve to the east ahead of our area in the west central area of the state so we escaped the wrath of Laura – we had wind and rain but a very light rain all day and as I write this at night I was typing this at about 7PM and we didn’t even have an inch of rain in the gauge then – it was to continue to rain off and on until about 1 in the morning – we were still to have gusts of wind now and then but other than one dead tree branch down I didn’t see anything else down but the full garbage container. I will take a closer look today.
For a stormy dark day I got the 3rd diagonal row of Lucy finished and on the wall and got started on the 4th row – but then had to undo the stitching when I realized I had attached the top two pieces wrong!
After that I moved to the sewing machine as it was lightening or anything and got a pineapple block done – the first in ages – this makes 41 finished now.
Alaska had a little progress on Wednesday night a little more done last night
Have any of you tried this “new to me” yogurt – it is not one I will buy often as it is not healthy in the least – but it sure taste good! It comes in these little jars but you just peel back a foil top to eat it – I wish it had a little lid as it would make the perfect size to do something with – if you could get the label off well – it sticks to it too well!! does anyone have a good hint on how to remove – I put it in the dishwasher thinking maybe it would wash off or at least come loose – but no stuck on it pretty tight. It is only about a half cup in size and with a good tight lid it would have been perfect for spices or something in the kitchen – maybe something in the sewing room? we will see.

I love yogurt but haven’t tried this due to the expense and amount of sugar. I generally buy “lite” yogurt in big containers as I have it instead of milk on cereal. Have you tried soaking the whole jar in warm, soapy water to get the label off? Sometimes cooking oil will take the glue off after you get the paper off. That jar would be handy with a real lid.
Hi Karen… still working on diligently switching to wordpress… I figured out how to back up and transfer my Blogger info and it is there now! YAY 🙂 All the tutorials wanna talk about a paid account and I am trying for now to do the blog in Wordpress with a free account.. we will see how I go… I am not savvy like your husband is! lol
I love that you were able to get a pineapple block done.. sorry you started the hexi row you were sewing wrong though.. never fun to frog things apart.
I am loving your progress on Alaska and I am glad to hear you didn’t get much damage at all from the rain and wind that came your way… it went more north than they expected so we may just get a bit of rain only from it! You can soak that label off then make it into a little whatnot jar or a small flower vase.. that is what my best friend does with that brand of yogurt and the only reason she gets it once in a blue moon is to enjoy the yogurt and recycle the jars… I will ask her what else she uses them for as she loves the size of the jar too!

Glad Laura wasn’t too bad in your area. I have used a squirt of WD 40 or carburetor cleaner for stubborn labels after a soak in some hot sudsy water.
Glad you faired pretty well with the storm. We may get a bit of it on Saturday but we could use the rain.
I buy that yogurt all the time and the label just peels right off. Start in a corner and it comes off in one piece as it’s not a paper label. I plan on trying to making yogurt in my instant pot and thought they would be good for storing it.
I hope you don’t have any damage this morning. As for labels, when I’m removing wine bottle labels for glass fusing, I use the strong citrus stuff. I think it’s called goo gone or something like that. I soak the in hot soapy water first. The dishwasher didn’t work at all for me. My Mom told me that WD40 also works.
I had some of those jars for a little while, trying to figure out what to do with them. I think they’d be cute candles with a little tea light in them. I believe I just soaked them in hot dishwater and the label came right off. I ended up recycling them, since I never put them to use. Glad you got through the storm with little damage. I sure thought about you last night.
Glad the storm went the other way. No fun unpicking things. I use goo gone to get labels and glue off. Hope you dont have too much branch pick up today.
So glad you got through the storm okay and your area avoided too much damage. Sounds like it was pretty tough in Louisiana. Isn’t that frustrating to have sewn something wrong in your hexie project and to have to take it off and redo?! That’s a lot of tiny stitches to pick out, but it’s looking so good! Glad you made progress on other things as well. I haven’t seen that yogurt before – I wonder if they sell it here. The glass jars might be fun for something, but you’re right – a lid would be helpful! Hope the storm dies down today.
That yogurt is good. You can get lids on Amazon for those jars. The instant pot groups talk about using them for homemade yogurt…..
You really progressed with your hexie quilt since I last checked in! Have you tried heating the label on the yogurt up with a hair dryer?
I am so glad that the winds weren’t so bad!! FIngers crossed it was still okay! I like your hexie – it is coming along great!
I bought the yogurt on sale and loved it and will buy it again “on sale” maybe if the sale is good enough. lol I checked out the oui lids on Amazon run from $5 each ( which is more then the yogurt cost even full price)
I used Goo Gone from the dollar store I think to get the label off.
Glad the Storm missed you hope you continue to be so lucky
P.S… I checked out the oui lids on Amazon run from $5 each ( which is more then the yogurt cost even full price) And then I saw these and now they are in my cart. Whoops! Folinstall 20 Pcs 4 oz Glass Jars
Pour hot water in the jar, keeping the label dry. Let the glass warm and the label should peel off.
Any adhesive residue will come off easily with a white Mr. Clean eraser sponge. (Not sure of the correct name)
My mom paints jars and uses alcohol, 91% I think it is. Works like a charm.
I’m glad all is well after storm laura! Annoying to sew the hexies in the wrong place too.
So glad you made it through okay! Your runner is looking gorgeous!
Thank goodness you missed the worst of the storm. I was concerned about you guys. Those are cute little jars but a lid would be necessary to use it for much of anything.
So glad that storm missed you. So much devastation in other places it seems.
Great progress on your projects even with a little frogging along the way. So that happens to you too heh!
I’ve never seen that yorgurt but it and the little jars look wonderful. There is a product called Goo Gone that works well on stubborn labels. I bought it for Winners and HOme Sense labels in particular because those are so hard to get off and for gifts you need it all gone.
Glad the heavy rains missed you. You were very industrious yesterday! Everything is looking so nice. I’m sorry you had to take part of the hexie row apart. So frustrating. I haven’t seen that type of yogurt before. The container is really nice. Sometimes peanut butter will remove glue. Weird, I know.
Love the hexies. Maybe one day I’ll finish mine LOL.
So glad you were spared the wrath of Laura! It’s funny, but I haven’t been able to get the image of Melissa Gilbert tumbling through the prairie grass out of my head, from the intro to the Little House on the Prairie television show. Every time the meteorologist on TV talks about “Tropical Storm Laura,” that’s what I see in my mind.
I think I have tried that yogurt before, but don’t remember whether I liked it. Is it just high fat content or does it have a lot of sugar, too? I’ve been eating the Fage TruBlend yogurt that has no added sugar and no artificial sweeteners, either. It took some getting used to at first, but now I prefer it over the sugary sweet yogurts.
Glad you missed the worst part of the storm. You’ve been making good progress on several fronts. Haven’t tried that yogurt, My Guy got me hooked on the Greek yogurt, so that’s what is in the fridge these days.
