Yesterday a front moved through and in one hour from 12:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon the temperature dropped from 79 degrees to 69 and kept dropping throughout the day – and as I was writing this at close to 7:30 PM it was down to 50. Kind of like chilly fall weather I had the window open a little in the sewing room and I could hear the wind. So a little yard work got done. The flower bed is dug up and ready for the bulbs when I get the rest of them – maybe it will have rained by then and I will have dug the ground deeper – it needs it but it was too hard to work in I figure if it doesn’t look like it will rain by mid week I will put the water on it to loosen it up. Although we do not have bright color up by the house we do have some turning of leaf’s and plenty of them falling although there will be a heck of a lot more before it is done. I will get the lawn mower out three or four times to mulch it up in the end. It gets so thick it is actually easier to do it that many times rather than wait for it all to be down.
Lucy is almost finished – I could have finished it last night but there was no reason to push it so it can be done this weekend instead.
A little more on “Friends” linking to Quilting Patchwork Applique —
I woke up early yesterday morning and turned on Morning Joe to watch some news while having a cup of coffee at 6 AM – I don’t usually wake up early enough to watch much of this news show but I do like it occasionally and notice I watch it more in election season then any other time of the years. I got the crochet blanket out to work on a little bit while I was waking up. I haven’t been working too much on it and progress goes slow – it is 72 inches wide so work is being done – just not fast.
One long stem red rose bud still to open at the tall side of the deck – these plants (2) have not been doing well the last 4 years or so and I’m beginning to think they need to be moved but I haven’t decided where – I have cut them back really far two falls running and it hasn’t done much good they will look great in early spring then downhill they go. After this rose opens I will trim them back if no other buds appear – they are climbers Mr. Lincoln’s.
The mint plants are still thriving – I cut them way back about six weeks ago and they will be ready to cut again now – but not enough to bother to dry – I think I will start to make some fresh tea out of them over the next couple weeks before we get frost.

That front came through here during the night, complete with the rain. We are going to be in the 50s all day. So foggy right now I can’t see across the lake. Guess I should go sew …
I finally bought a few packages of bulbs to redo my front garden. Probably need to get that done today before the cold front rolls through here overnight! It will be fun to see close-ups of your signature blocks as you quilt along – I’m enjoying the pretty batiks, too. When you make tea with the fresh mint leaves, do you just pick a few and put them into a tea strainer in your mug? I bet that makes tasty tea!
Dear Karen,
Wow did we get a front come through here last night. The wind picked up, rained and a lot of the leaves were on the ground this morning. Snow called for on Tuesday here. So snow tyres got put on, the leaves raked and picked up. No sooner did we get it done this morning and then the rain started again. Talk about a window of opportunity! The crochet blanket is coming along beautifully. Lucy is almost done, she is looking amazing.
Our weather is due for a dramatic change on Monday. We will have a high of 80 today, but by Monday the high will be 59. All of your projects are looking so pretty.
Hi Karen ! I apologize knowing I am sure you have stated the dimensions before but what will be the finished size of Lucy. I am working on a 1inch hexi quilt and feel I will never finish.
Just looking for a push !
Thanks,
Karen
Thanks so much !
