Things just do not change do they when you are getting towards the end of projects many of us put other things aside and concentrate on finishes and that is what I am doing with mine.
Alaska is very near the end now and this is the section I worked on last night – looks the same as the previous area! This border is long and boring after awhile with it being more of the same – one or two nights and it will be done.
More work on the hexies – the corner unit fabric was picked out, thread basted, made and attached.
Working on this section for the next couple of days – linking to To-Do-Tuesday,
And then that section above will be attached to what is on the wall – it will probably be 5 days or so before Lucy is done as I just pick this up to hand stitch while the news is on usually – but if the weather is warm like it might be the next day or two you might find me on the porch stitching in between working on the flower bed which I neglected for two days running – I hadn’t meant to take a break but it happened.
These are the packaged bulbs that I have on hand to go in the garden bed and I plan to look for more when I go grocery shopping – probably this morning before it gets busy.
I decided to get the two rose bushes in that garden trimmed back before I start to dig closer to them (I’d rather not get stabbed by thorns) so I cut all the roses and divided between two vases.
This vase was purchased years ago at a pottery place in Williamsburg VA – the last time I went to Williamsburg (where one of my sister lives) I found that the old pottery place which was huge was not there anymore and they had a new location that was totally different than the old place. Nice but not the same.
Connecting Threads – anniversary sale – use the code to get $15.00 off of $50 or more – – the code is 15OFF50
Green Fairy is having a sale also – not sure when that one expires
Fat Quarter Shop has Aurifil Thread 30% off right and always great sales on the sales tab.

Your roses are amazing. Those peach coloured daffodils are gorgeous when they bloom. On our walks we walk past a section which is planted with them. The colours on them is stunning.
I just finished planting 400 blubs, daffodils, anemone, and Hyacinth. I planted them close together because I wanted a visual show next spring that I could cut for vases without feeling like I am thinning them out. I have a quilt to bind and two to get the backs ready for quilting but right now I’m working on a small Kawandi Siddi quilt that involves a lot of hand stitching so I am forging ahead with that before I lose interest.
The roses are gorgeous! And soon your quilt projects will be done. I do hope you have a few more days of warm weather.
Maybe our new home will have a bulb garden spot… we will see… anyway next spring I will enjoy seeing your jump up 🙂 What a nice selection of bulbs you have from your yard and your stash to go into the ground too!
I love that Alaska AND Lucy are nearing ending… I know Lucy you said was going in the to be quilted pile… it looks big enough to load on your frame if you choose too also! But Alaska will have to be bound and sewn down so it will be a bit before it is officially ready to wash and dry and use but just in time by all that time to see it on the bed soon too even if binding doesn’t happen right away!
Happy hand stitching and quilting on your projects and happy bulb shopping too! Kathi
It is good to stay focused on the last little bit of a project when you’re getting close! Looks like it won’t be long now for your quilting on Alaska. I like the pink corner block you’re making for Lucy, too. Your roses look beautiful! How nice to have bouquets of them at this time of year!
OMG, I used to go to that old pottery place in Williamsburg. It was fun to sort through all the goods- I still have some special things that I bought there. It was more fun digging through than having it all displayed and organized. Those were the days….
Those bulbs look beautiful. The only bulb that survives the deer here are daffodils. We have given up on all the other pretty flowers. We have really rocky ground so it’s also almost impossible to dig the holes. Last year the deer pulled the crocuses out of the ground and left them just lying on top. Guess they didn’t taste as good as they looked.
More of the same is always beautiful, Karen. As are those gorgeous roses! I don’t plant much in the fall but seeing your bulbs has me thinking…
Love the roses. Can’t wait to see Alaska done. The hexies make me smile. Hope you continue to enjoy good weather for the bulb planting.
Hi Karen! Oh, those last of the season roses are so beautiful. I can almost smell them through the computer screen. Yes, it’s nice to work in the garden and NOT get stuck on thorns. You’re so close to several big projects being completed. I can hardly wait to see Alaska all bound and displayed. Is it going on your bed or a gift? It is lovely. Thank you for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne
Your roses are lovely! And I bet they smell great! Your garden spots are going to be so pretty in the spring with those bulbs. The little pink corner piece on Lucy is sweet.
It is so nice to see roses still blooming in mid October. I think I’m all out of new blooms with that last coneflower.
