I think – if I counted right that there are 1,194 pieces in the Lucy quilt – and that is not the most I ever did – believe me the two Dear Jane Quilts I made had many more pieces than that! Little by little this quilt is getting done – the lower half diamond was finished.
And I got the top side diamond attached and will get this piece added today. Then one more half diamond for the bottom and a corner unit and the last three rows well be ready to attach. Linking to Wendy’s Quilts and More — Alycia Quilts –
This corner of Alaska is done , there is a little blue left from the marking pen that just means I didn’t apply enough water – that will be taken care of in the wash when the quilt is finished.
And a little more over to the side.
Seeing as it was supposed to get down to 40 degrees (possibly lower) I had to bring in the two hanging plants and I wasn’t ready – but want to protect them until I decide what to do with them so I brought in a little outside table to put the fern on and I was stepping on leaf’s as I was carrying it across the room – if I keep it I will give it a “hair cut” and make it smaller! or we would be stepping on it all the time. I might take it out of it’s pot and cut it in three pieces and trim it making 3 smaller ferns – an idea
And the Wandering Jew I didn’t think would take up so much room but I can’t close the plantation blinds so this plant must be cut down also and maybe divided into 2-3 plants as well – I might see if Melanie knows anyone that might want them and keep one of each plant unless I can find spots for smaller plants. I thought the photo came out better than it did but the light wasn’t real good at the time. I told Mike to keep an eye out I’m pretty sure the tree frog that goes back and forth between the two plants is in this plant – I was going to scoop him out from the hole on the side of the pot where it holds excess water but I couldn’t get him – I hope he hopped out as I brought it to the door – but I think I have a frog in the house!
As soon as the danger of an early frost is past I will bring them outside and see about cutting the root balls down and pot some plants. I wasn’t expecting an early cold spell.

Wow – a frog in the house! Must be uncomfortable for everyone, especially him/her.
Lucy is coming along at her own pace but will be beautiful when done, a true heirloom!
I love seeing you make your final pass on Alaska Karen! Hope you find the frog if he landed in the house and doesn’t stay in the plant… we are to get colder weather Friday night than last night. We are expecting 32 tomorrow nite and 30 Saturday night!!!! I had to look 😀
Your many sides of Lucy quilt is amazing to think of all the time and love you are putting into making it… And the strip you share with the yellow gold bottom to add… looks spot on awesome!
Stay warm and enjoy the daylight hours of cool but not freezing weather! Kathi
I will be bringing in some plants tonight too since the temps are going to be dropping. What a difference from the beautiful weather we had yesterday.
I can’t believe the amount of pieces in the Lucy quilt. It really turned out nice.
Hope you find your little visitor.
It’s a cool 30 degrees here this morning at 6:42. I’m happily tucked in my chair, reading emails. Your fern is beautiful – so full and green! A frog in the house! I sure hope he hitches a ride back outside. That’s a lot of hexies, but they sure look pretty together!
I have a plant to bring in too and I think there is a tree frog in it also. Your Lucy hexie quilt is going to be gorgeous.
Hopefully the frog will want to be back outside as much as you want him out there! Those plants are happy and healthy – amazing how they’ve grown. Sounds like a good idea to break them up into smaller plants! Your hexie diamond project is just about done – love the yellows in that one!
The fern is so full and green – very healthy. I’ve had crickets in the house but not frogs. Hope that gets sorted out well.
You did two dear Jane’s! Wow. I would love to see them. Care to do a flash back?
You’ll be finishing up Lucy and Alaska at about the same time. I have to bring a plant inside tonight too ’cause its supposed to be down to 32 here. After tonight, its back up so can go back outside. This one has sprawled out so much that it takes up a ton of space inside. I may do a haircut on it too but I hate to just throw away the cuttings. It’s in the cactus family but makes blossoms 8 inches or larger across in the most gorgeous fuschia color. I’ll right with it tonight and then we’ll see.
Those two plants are really pretty! But I am laughing about you possibly having a frog in the house. So cool that the quilting on Alaska is nearly done!
Oh yes those ferns tend to get quite messy when the furnace starts to run. I brought in my Christmas Cactus. We still need to bring in the lemon tree but it can take temps down to 35 so it will be a while before we have to bring it in. Alaska is so close to being done, how lovely it will be have it to enjoy at Christmas.
Oh those are really big plants and so pretty! We brought in flowers last night too, they stayed in today as well so we didn’t have to do it again tonight. But I can’t keep doing that so at some point I have to let go! A do admire all your hand stitching and love seeing the progress.
My plants are in for good! And I hope the only extras I brought in were some gnats, not frogs! I’ll spray for those. I can’t wait to see both Alaska and Lucy! Wow, you are awesome!
hexie by hexie this quilt will be done! i love it – and you are making great progress on it!
