Yesterday was a very busy day for me and I got a bit done. I did take a break in the early afternoon and met Melanie for a walk – we decided to forgo the loop at the back of the trail system where we have been seeing a snake every week for the past month! it was a mile less to walk but my left hip thanked me for it and we still got in over 8,000 steps by time we were done. I worked on more face masks and gave her four and now I am still working on more for us even though we plan to spend even more time at home with the rise of covid cases –I thought it better to have a few more on hand – I’m going to finish these up tomorrow and then take a break from them for a week and then make Melanie a couple with Xmas theme for work.
I did get to work on nine patches for the Country Charmer — they need to be pressed then added to the wall and sewing rows will start.
I did get them finished so that was great (after this photo)
And a couple more rows were added to the blanket when watching the evening news. Linking to Small Quilts and Doll Quilts —
From the Friends quilt on Saturday night one signature block was done, some flowers and most of the border area – I needed to finish that area before I could roll it down last night which I did.
One project I need to get busy on is this stitchery that Melanie gave us for a present last Christmas – I framed it with the red batik and will quilt it in a simple grid and use it for a table topper for the holidays. I think a simple grid will be best as the stitching is the “star” of the piece. I’m thinking white quilting thread in the white area – I am thinking on how to quilt the red area – continue with the grid or a very simple woven chain– but should it be red thread or the white carried through? I will need to think on that while I work on sewing the rows of Country Charmer together
Connecting Threads is having a big sale use code CHARMING to get a free charm pack on a $35 order – new deals throughout the week

Glad to hear that there were no snake sightings on your latest walk with Melanie.
I will be interested to see how you will quilt the needlework that Melanie made for you. I have a few pieces of stitch work completed and am not sure how to finish them off.
That stitchery piece of Melanie’s is gorgeous and will be nice to display during the holidays!
Karen, it will be fun to see some of the blocks that came from overseas.
I love seeing each friend and how they wrote their name on your friends quilt… it is sooo fun for you I am sure! And your progress on many other fronts as well as pondering a finish to your table topper melanie did the center of so beautifully and a walk with Mel too 🙂 I am glad you enjoyed your Sunday.! Happy Monday!!! Kathi
You did get a lot done! Glad you could sneak in a walk with Melanie, since I know that does both of you good. Her work on that Christmas piece is just so lovely. I need to make a few more masks; I’m tired of mine, so I need something new.
I’m glad you got out for a walk with Melanie and no snakes! Your nine patches are coming along, too – there’s something very appealing about sewing simple 9 patches. I’m ready to get back to my project that includes them. Looks like you picked the perfect fabric for a border on Melanie’s cross-stitch – so pretty!
Beautiful work by Melanie, I like how you have framed it! I would use white thread on the white areas and red on the border, a simple loop would look nice I agree, that way the stitching would still be the real focus.
Your stitching piece is so beautiful,
You had a great weekend! Melanie’s cross stitch will be a lovely table topper. I think either red or white in the red will look great. Different effects but both good.
You were really productive indeed! Everything is looking good. Yesterday, was a lazy one for me, although I did a bit of crocheting.
Love your black& white nine patches, and the mug too 😉
