Ready to Sew

All of the sashing and little squares are cut out (yes I know it is easier to do strips and cut them into squares but the black pieces came from a lot of 3 inch squares that I had saved in a box) – I hope to get started sewing them today – in between working on the flower bed this week – I need to dig the bed up and get those bulbs planted.

I am going with a mixture of the two neutral colors I showed – one of the fabrics wasn’t enough but I wanted to use it so there will be both – it is a scrappy quilt after all.

A little quilting on Friends done on Monday

The Halloween quilt came off the table and a fall runner that I made last year went on it – flannel hexies.  The hanging plant that had been outside fell apart when I started to try to repot in a couple weeks ago so I cut off a lot of it and rooting a new plant – it looks really pretty on the table.

I finished the binding on Alaska last night and as I was staying up a while to watch the election results I got it in the washer and dryer and then remembered I hadn’t put a label on it so I will need to get one made – I will take it outside for some photos today

I lave that you finished Alaska binding and only needs a label and fun photos before enjoying it… your fall flannel table runner is Great!! I love your wandering jew too! The most fab to me is your progress on friends though … it should move along nicely from where you are now. As for your sashing and cornerstone piecing.. I would have done it your way too.. feels more authentic that way and I love piecing a quilt this way… I can press as I go for more precise finishing too but that is me!!! Have a blessed week my friend… Kathi

Dear Karen, The flannel makes the cooler weather easier to contend with, just touching it, soft and warm always brings a smile and just lifts me up. Yesterday was a warm day, with no wind. Had some plants which the frost and snow got to over the weekend that needed to be trimmed back. A few shrubs that got to big, was trimmed as well. The garden is now done until Spring next year. Enjoy preparing your new flower bed. Love the scrappy quilts, you coffee dyed the fabric and ta-daa you have enough light fabrics! Very good idea. Cutting the little squares, allow for using more of what we already have cut. It is easier to sew together. Alaska is a beauty, washing the quilts always give them so much character. Do you do special labels for each quilt?

I have been needing to repot my Wandering Jew plant… I am sure it will fall apart (maybe that is why I have been putting it off. I will more than likely have to go the route you’ve gone here & root them in a vase. Have a blessed day Karen!! In stitches ~ Michele

The setting for the Country Charmer is really nice. I love small polka dotted fabric and use it when I can.

I really like your black and white sashing and cornerstones for the RSC quilt – that will pull all the other colors in the blocks together. Makes me think I might do something like that to put those color challenge blocks together. The fall tabletopper and plant look great on your table! I love changing out the table decorations for the season. Looking forward to seeing Alaska all finished up!

The black/white sashing is going to look great. Love the hexie quilt on your table – so pretty! And Alaska is done – woohoo!

I forgot to mention yesterday that dyeing your white polka dot fabric with coffee was an awesome idea (so distracted by this election). Those little nine patches in the sashes are so cute. What size are your Country Charmer blocks? Yay for the Alaska finish! Nice to see the flannel hexie table topper again.

Your flannel hexie table topper is beautiful. Did you have online friends to send blocks for your Friends quilt or was that done locally?
