Piecing, Quilting and Decorating

With skipping yesterday’s post because of internet issues I have more photos to share than normal.  When the internet goes out I do not bother to try to on my phone as it just doesn’t work well for me.

Starting with Friends Around the World I am almost done with the row across that I am working on and have two names to share

The Christmas Stitchery is almost finished – the quilting is done and the binding is being hand stitched now – linking this piece to Alycia Quilts – Finished or Not Friday and Wendy’s Peacock Party —

I misjudged the thread and had plenty left!  I’m doing the binding with it now.

Working on a pineapple block but hadn’t done much on it since I last showed.  I use flat headed pins to hold pieces down and in place – they work so easy and I find I don’t accidently have a fold over in fabric where I don’t want it and then have to fix a spot.

I was asked to show the front of the paper – I got 2 tablets of paper from the Fat Quarter Shop – link on the side bar —

They have several sizes and I think in a log cabin pattern also.

It has been like spring here the last couple of days – so I was outside a lot – it was 68 on Wednesday and 73 on Thursday – of course it doesn’t last – back to 40/50’s daytime – 30 at night now and chilly rain too.  But I got a photo of what will probably be my last rose and because the nights haven’t been really cold (just a couple freezes) we still have bugs – if you look closely at the left side of the rose is a Praying Mantis and this was taken December 9th!!

Because of the nice weather we had no excuse to not get done decorating the front of the house festive for Christmas  (so much easier to do in spring like temperatures instead of 40 or so!) linking to Creative Compulsions today seeing as I couldn’t yesterday.

I am loving your continued progress on Friends quilt, You will be washing and using that table topper soon and how exciting to have Melanie’s work mixed with your stitching and hand quilting right on your table! I love how you show your pineapple block construction holding down the layers sewn with pins. Have a great day and enjoy those outdoor decorations girl! We are still weeding through things here a bit at the time…

Your outdoor decorations look very inviting. Isn’t it nice to have a little more light at this time of year? Our weather has been gloomy for over a month so it’s heartening to see the Christmas decorations going up all around town. One of these nights I’m going to take a walk around the neighborhood to look at the lights.

I see my name! Your friends quilt is coming along nicely. So interesting to see where everyone is from.
The cross stitch wreath will soon be done and hanging on the wall. So festive in red and white!
Your lights look good. We have been out walking after supper most nights and enjoy seeing the lights.

Look at you with the fancy EMBROIDERED name, Gail! I’m impressed (and wishing I’d thought of that!).

Your outdoor decorations look so cheerful and welcoming, and I’m sure it was much easier to get them up in the milder weather. You’re making good progress on your projects. I think I have the 6″ pad of pineapple papers from FQS; I got them in a Sew Sampler box.

Your house looks very festive! I love outdoor lights – we need to go for a night time drive around town to see what people have put up. Those pineapple papers look really handy! I know you cut your pieces ahead of time – are there directions that tell you what size to cut?

Your porch lights are so beautiful, Karen! I didn’t know that you could buy a whole notepad full of preprinted foundation paper piecing patterns. Very convenient!

Pretty decorations outside! No one ever finished ours out front so there are just a few lights up and outside. Maybe this weekend? I got the flowering snowball die in the mail yesterday…. I am so tempted to pull it out and cut a little before I wrap it for under the tree!

Your house looks so festive! Friends is looking so pretty. And Melanie’s stitchery is beautiful! I finished another hand-pieced block last night.

We had a couple days in the high 40s but all blooming plants have died now. Your decorations are really nice. I don’t have the ambition to do outside ones.

I wondered where you were yesterday. Nothing worse than internet problems. You’re making progress, dear girl. We’re the last house up the hill on a dead end road so no outside decorating here! Yours is lovely and inviting.

I love your decorations! It was really nice outside this weekend for us but it’s turning cold today.
