Good Intentions

I really meant to get started on the two large star blocks yesterday for the RSC quilt but I didn’t realize the second covid shot was going to wipe me out as much as it did!  I had the shot on Friday and got barely anything done on Saturday – I ached all over so much that my aches had aches!  I didn’t run a fever though as so many do – but I just felt very sore all over and tired all day.  It is a very good feeling through to have the second shot and I know I will feel better in a day or two.  It is very worth having a bad day or two to know that I am protected better than I was.

I did get a carrot cake made for Easter so that was something and enjoyed a piece last night also – (didn’t affect my appetite)

Finally had to stake up the double white amaryllis  they were getting so heavy and leaning over I was afraid they would topple over if I didn’t.  And then of course one stem bent a little while I was working on them so now I have clear tape wrapped around the bent part to help hold it up LOL

More tulips are opening – I just love looking down at the insides of them – they are so unique to me.

My book arrived that accompanies Block Base+ (if you order the combo) really a nice book and so big and heavy!

I did get a little binding done – I think it is almost done with 3 sides now.  Linking to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching — Quilting is More Fun than Housework —

And a little quilting done on Lucy on Friday night before the aches started.

Glad to hear you finished with your 2 doses. I am still waiting to make an appointment for the first. I have heard that from a few people how they were okay with the 1st dosage and the 2nd one hit them like a ton of bricks.
I think we had our last overnight freeze last week so I am hoping to see more green and color popping up in my yard. Love your tulips.

I had the same reaction to shot #2. I am usually pretty energetic, but I was wiped out for a day or so. Went to bed at 9! But “they” say that’s your immune system kicking in. At least we know it’s working.
Love those “radish” tulips! Mine are pink mostly, but I did plant some red ones last fall. We’ll see how they do – maybe in a couple of weeks as they’re right next to the house in the sun.

I hope the aches leave soon… can you take Tylenol or ibuprofen??? Soon you will be back to life as usual and be protected from bad COVID too! Take care! Kathi

So sorry that you are not feeling well. I also had a reaction to the second dose. Like you, I did not care at all that I did not feel well for days because I knew I was now safe. I hope you feel much better very soon.

Sounds like you are having what I hear from others after the second shot. I hope you are feeling better today!

    Dear Karen,
Having a good reaction like that is a sure sign the immune system is working. Now you know that your body will protect you well against the virus. Glad you got to have your carrot cake and just relax a bit. You have your eye candy to enjoy. The book looks good, so lots of ideas for the future. Happy Easter to you and your family.

Happy Easter! Glad to hear you have had your second shot! The vaccines are going to help everyone get past this pandemic! Your amaryllis flowers are lovely as are the tulips. I love Spring flowers. Hope you are able to get a bit more sewing done today. Always fun to see your projects.

Hope you’re feeling better today! I was like you – didn’t care if I didn’t feel good because I knew it was temporary and was so happy to be vaccinated. Your carrot cake looks yummy, and the amaryllis and tulips are so pretty. Happy Easter!

Take it easy and soon you will be back to normal. Glad you are vaccinated and hopefully in a few weeks you are able to get out a bit more. Happy Easter.

Love your flowers, love all your blocks, quilting and binding….but most of all…love that you got your vaccine. Me too, yesterday, today I ache, but so happy in two weeks I get to hug my grandchildren. Happy Easter and happy vaccine and happy quilting.

Ouch! Sorry you had a reaction to the second shot. I have heard that’s not unusual. Hopefully a short lived one. The binding is looking good on Morning Glory – love that floral fabric

    Yummy cake! Happy Easter.

Great projects. I need to reschedule my second shot. Not sure when would be great as John is in the hospital and I need to be available for whatever is coming.

I’m happy to hear that you’ve had your second vaccination. DH and I had a weary day the day after ours also and napped a not. But you are right in that we were happy too do it to be better protected. Now to get the rest of the country on board. Have you played with the new block program much? I have EQ from several years ago and can use it little but never have gotten proficient with it. Have a good day and hope your weather is as good as ours! It’s lovely here on the hill today and hopefully our freezing overnights are behind us now.

Well at least it’s done now and worth feeling rough for a couple of days. Take care though.

Seems like the second shot is giving those reactions to many. But as you said, so worth it! Your flowers are so pretty! Thank you for sharing them.

  • Jenny Benton Apr 4, 2021 @ 16:10

It seems that so many people are getting reactions from the second dose of vaccine. Pleased you recovered but it must be rather scary at the time.

  • Mia is mine Apr 4, 2021 @ 16:28

Yes, like many others, I’ve heard the second dose is a whopper! I’m getting mine tomorrow late afternoon, so I’ll be finishing up cleaning and cooking for a couple of days before I get my second dose, God willing.
Your projects are all so lovely. Binding sounds like good therapy when we’re not feeling well. The hexie project – OH MY GOODNESS! It’s lovely – as is your hand quilting. I’m so impressed and inspired!
    Thank you for sharing!

  • Eli Apr 4, 2021 @ 20:24

Oof, that second covid-19 shot wiped me out for a full day! Glad you are fully vaccinated and hope you are feeling better!

  • Ivani Apr 4, 2021 @ 20:34

Hope your are feeling better. Your carrot cake made my mouth watering. This is my favorite cake, I am curious to know how you made the icing. Now I see you are also quilting the flowers, Lucy is just a gorgeous quilt. Take care
