Country Charmer is coming along great and I decided how I was quilting the stars.

I had several people ask how do you sew a curve like the Drunkard’s Path with no pins in it – I learned how when I saw a video for a special presser foot called the Curve Master Foot.  I bought the foot and soon realized you really didn’t need the foot – I actually sold the foot to someone else that wanted it.  You can do the same thing with a regular 1/4 inch foot –if you have one with a little guide on the side that is great but not necessary just watch your seam —  here is a link to the video that shows you how to do it.  I can do my 6.5 inch Drunkard Path blocks in less than 30 seconds each – so yes I should probably be done with 300 blocks by now LOL – but you know me I just can’t sit at the machine long –   Tweezers do come in handy though for the tail end of the stitching!!  (For a less expensive version, see the Dreamstitch Presser Foot.)

    Dear Karen
Lucy looks great on the table. Love the way you are quilting the star blocks of country charmer. It will not take long to quilt this one. Will check out the video on sewing curves, we can always learn something new or a new way of doing something in a creative way.

I am so happy for you with the finish of Lucy in the Sky! As soon as I finish applique work on my current project, I hope to address my languishing EPP project.

Lucy looks awesome Karen! Esp crossways on your table with the plant on it 🙂 I bet you are pleased that happened so nicely 🙂
I really am enjoying how you are quilting your Country Charmer… it is a charming quilt too! from the border to the blocks this will look awesome! Does the Country Charmer fit on your bed when completed or will it be a wall hanging or a gift??? I can’t recall!
Thanks for the link here to the way you sew your drunkards path blocks without pins…. I tried apple cores and made a mess of it… so I gave it to a friend! LOL

Lucy looks great on the table – she is the perfect size! I like how you’re quilting the stars in Country Charmer, too. There are lots of good shapes to follow in those blocks. I have a 1/4 inch foot for my older Janome like you’re describing, but haven’t gotten one for the Pfaff yet. I never thought about how it would help for sewing curves, but now I can see how it would.

Lucy looks so nice, and isn’t it fun having something new and fresh on your table for Spring? I like the way you are quilting the stars in Country Charmer. Two really pretty quilts!

Absolutely love Lucy, so pretty. Looks gorgeous on the table.

Lucy in the Sky looks so soft and beautiful on the table and the Christmas cactus looks green and full sitting on top. What a nice way to display both. Well done!
Sewing the curved seams on the drunkard’s path blocks reminds me of setting in sleeves in garment sewing so long ago. Quilters who never did any garment sewing have a lot more to learn when they take up quilting, things that garment sewers take for granted.

Congratulations on your hexi finish. Beautiful as usual.

Lucy is beautiful! Just picked over 4 pounds of blueberries and have 2 half sheet pans in the freezer with most of them. Time to sew.

Lucy turned out wonderfully! Looks great on your table. Nice quilting on country charmer too. Rainy day here. Good day to sew and read a book, but not at the same time!

I’m so excited to see Lucy all finished and in use! Perfectly perfect! And I love the close ups of your stitching on the frame! I admire it so!

Lucy finished up beautifully. The stitching on Country Charmer is looking good. Looks like you are back to motoring along on your various projects.
