A Little Applique and Quilting

I started in on the applique of the red block yesterday and have the urn and one big red piece stitched in place – the urn looks a little ruffled but it wasn’t laying quite flat.

A little more quilting got done also and I was working on the side border last night

Mike finished up the fence – it was slow going for awhile because of all the rain we have had but now it is ready for me to gradually get more things planted and prepare things for next year too.

The board under the gate slides out so one can get wheel barrow in there

The clematis are beginning to open – and covered in blossoms – we have had unusual cold weather here the past couple days and last night and tonight down in the mid 40’s again – this is crazy here – usually warmer by now.

I love how the fence turned out. Looks like you have a lot of space to plant different things. If I had the yard space I would love to have a fenced in area to grow vegetables in raised beds. Our soil here is terrible. We have herbs and tomatoes growing in pots.
My clematis is blooming too. We have been getting some colder weather at night too, I have been bringing in my newly planted in pots rose bushes every night because of this.

That is an impressive fence! No wonder it took a while to build. Can’t imagine anything getting in, but of course racoons can climb. I don’t think you plant corn, so it probably won’t be an issue. They seem to know just when the corn is ripe.

I agree that the fence is impressive and looks like a lot of work. Your Country Charmer blocks are such fun to see close up. It sure is a pretty quilt!

That is a heavy duty fence! Hope it warms up so that you can get some planting done. I’m ready for that here, too – I need to get some bedding plants. Glad you got started on your red Love Letters block! I’ll be curious to see if you end up feeling like there’s room for the berries.

Great job on the fence Mike! I had to give up on our vegetable garden as the black walnut trees behind us killed everything and started to shad the garden too much as well
Good start on the appliqué and the quilting on country charmer is flying along.

    Dear Karen,

Your veggie garden looks amazing and it is deer proof! All your projects are growing and the wood at the bottom of the gate will be keeping the bunnies out. Brilliant idea. We finally got warmer weather and we are very happy the sun is shining. It definitely helps when it is out to warm things up.

Quite the garden fence he has been building! That should keep the critters out. We went from 90 yesterday to 65 today and rainy and cloudy. I have to say – I’m going to enjoy the cooler weather… probably the last I will see until winter (or my time up in VT!)

What a beautiful garden you have. Love the applique with the urn… and all the wonderful blocks you are showing.

Wow, that’s a big job, well done Mike! Should keep those pesky deer away from your tender growing plants. Guess you have the hard task of all the digging and planting now. Just as well you enjoy your time in the garden.

Mike is building quite the fence for sure! Amazed by how far ahead your garden is too. Meanwhile lovely applique update, Karen.

Wow! Mike’s fence looks like it will be just the thing to keep the critters out of your garden!

That’s the most impressive garden fence that I’ve ever seen! I love the black vase as the center of your red garden block.
